    Excellent recommendations!

I watched "In the Pale Moonlight" first, which I hadn't seen. Really riveting episode, very unique, very DS9. I like how in DS9 they tried to go in the opposite direction from TNG as much as they could.

There used to be a documentary on Netflix, not sure if they still have it, was called something like "The Captains." Basically it was William Shatner visiting and conversing 1 on 1 with the other actors who starred as captains in Star Trek: Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Scott Bakula. Each interview was awkward and fascinating, mainly because Shatner's just so hopelessly, and hilariously, self-involved.

Stewart was polite and patient, trying very hard not to be patronizing or condescending. Brooks was absolutely off the rails, sitting at a piano for most of the interview breaking out into improvisational jazz singing throughout. Mulgrew didn't take any BS. Bakula was gushing with adoration, which Shatner appeared to enjoy immensely.

Based on what you have said look for the "Year of Hell" from Voyager, decent 2 parter.

Yes it's about the Dinosaur species discovering they're from Earth and the social consequences of that discovery.

It was even better watching it when it first aired. The cliffhanger was huge and knowing you had to wait months for the resolution was insane.

DS9: Any episode with yours truly
All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

Another episode I remember is "First Contact". Was pretty decent with the obvious reversal of roles being played here.

I would highly recommend the episode Duet from DS9 series 1, it's probably my favourite Trek episode, at least in the top 3. However, its a full drama episode - no phasers firing in this one, so if action is important to you, then Best of Both Worlds from TNG series 3/4 has that covered, as well as a great story.

How could I forget. TNG - "Tapestry". Absolutely outstanding episode.

I got a chance to see the first screeing of Captains, Shatner was there to introduce it, definitely reached heights of ridiculousness when talking to Avery. Actually, yea, I'm currently wearing the souvenir t-shirt they gave out at the event lol.

Just got done watching VOY S7 E5 "Critical Care" and thought it was pretty good ("The Doctor is kidnapped from Voyager by an alien who sells him and his mobile emitter to a hospital hovering above a densely populated planet").

My all-time favorites are from Next Generation: "Darmok," "Lower Decks," "The Inner Light," "The Best of Both Worlds," "Unification," and "Data's Day"
Yeah Inner Light is the one that really hurts.

The Next Generation episode 26 is highly recommended. Especially since it is available on youtube in its fullest:

So looking back over the recommendations and the ones I like (and remember), there are plenty of great Doctor, Picard, and Data related episodes, and i'll be the first to say Garak always enhanced any DS9 episode he was in. However as a tougher challenge, what about great Chakotay episodes, LaForge, Odo, Paris, Bashir, etc etc? Perhaps it's just a testament to the actor that they made the episodes great, or the writers just had an easier time with the "what it means to be human" aspect of Data and the Doctor.

For instance I can't think of a great Kira episode, and I generally liked the character, and wouldn't consider her a supporting character like dr. Crusher. Even on the lists I don't recall any being Worf-centric, but there were plenty the focused on Worf that I enjoyed.

I think the reason the Data and EMH (and even Picard-focused) episodes work so well is they pretty much sum-up a lot of what Star Trek (atleast in the past) is all about; the human condition and morality.

    I'd chuck-in "Our Man Bashir" (DS9 S4 E9) as a great Bashir-focused episode.

"Relics" and "I Borg" are both really good La Forge episodes from TNG. The ones where they try to put him in romantic situations are pretty rough, though.

My favorite Worf episode now is probably his introduction onto DS9, "The Way of the Warrior." It's funny to see him interact with other Klingons; it turns out he's still something of a black sheep, but somehow more Klingon than the Klingons.

  17. #37
I always found the Worf goes and deals with klingon politics to be absolute zzzfest's and then we had the added horror of him playing awkward dad to a horrible kid actor. That being said I really enjoyed the episode in which Riker assumes a 2nd in command position aboard a Klingon bird of prey.

so many good ones and many already mentioned. some of my favorites are TNG 'Booby Trap' (worth it for the soundtrack alone) and DS9 'Whispers'.

Garak was in most of the good ones, this is true. If I could pick one stand-out episode per season of DS9 it would be:

    Season One: "Duet"
This was a Kira episode that featured her squaring off against Cardassian war criminal. The parallels between the Cardassian/Bajoran relationship and post-WWII Germans/Jews make this one particularly poignant.

    Season Two: "The Wire"
A Garak episode! This episode explores the relationship between "plain and simple Garak the tailor" and Doctor Bashir. It shed some much-needed light on DS9's mystery man.

Season Three: "The House Of Quark"
Anytime you get Ferengi and Klingons together, it's a hoot! This is no exception.

Season Four: "The Way Of The Warrior"
Worf joins the cast. 'Nuff said.

Season Five: "Soldiers Of The Empire"
As Ronald D. Moore put it, "an episode of 'Star Trek: Klingon.'" After years and years of seeing the Klingon Bird Of Prey portrayed as basically cannon-fodder, we get to see what a truly great Klingon like Martok can do with one.

    Season Six: "Sacrifice Of Angels"
A combined Starfleet and Klingon armada retake Deep Space Nine from the Dominion. Very ambitious for television at that time. For me, this one is a tie with "In The Pale Moonlight" for this season... which I'm sure someone has already mentioned here.

Season Seven: "What You Leave Behind"
Simply the best series finale of any Star Trek series... and among the best in television history. The makers of this show really kick you in the feels with this one.

When it comes to ST: Enterprise, it becomes hard for me to pick any one episode out of Season Three because that was one big story. My top seven episodes would be:

    "Fight Or Flight"
This episode (the second) clearly shows the sensibilities of humans of this era of Star Trek and how those sensibilities differ from those of the other Star Trek shows. Archer shines here as he resists T'Pol's "non-interference" advice. This was also one of the only episodes of Star Trek that I can recall where an actor full-on screams in terror.

    "Silent Enemy"
Also from Season One, this episode is otherwise called "The episode where the NX-01 gets phase cannons." We're used to seeing a ship called "Enterprise" that is a decent match for most of the hostile ships it encounters. Not so with the NX-01. I found that refreshing.

    "Minefield" & "Dead Stop"
I consider these two back-to-back episodes to be a two-parter, although technically they aren't. "Minefield" reintroduces us to the Romulans and "Dead Stop" is just creepy fun. The reason I consider these a two-parter is because the NX-01 sustains massive damage in the first episode and the second resolves that situation.

    "Cogenitor"
Much like "Fight Or Flight," this one explores humans starting to grapple with the kinds of cultural issues that led to the Prime Directive. Trip teaches a young alien how to read and this causes a death. Powerful stuff, again in the second season.

    "Regeneration"
The NX-01 crew encounter some Borg drones that survived when the Borg Sphere from "Star Trek: First Contact" exploded in Zephram Cochrane's time. Echos of "The Thing" and zombie films here.

    "Affliction" & "Divergence"
A two-parter that explains why the Klingons of TOS are different than they are in every other time period we have seen them in. Looks like both O'Brien and Bashir were correct!

    "In A Mirror, Darkly"
This is pure Trek porn. I mean that in a good way.

DS9 Way of the Warrior, The Siege of AR-558
TNG stay away from Troi episodes - all crap, on the other hand all Data episodes are great
