Building on this, and I'm skipping a few pages so forgive me if someone brought it up, but: Have we considered the awful possibility that Trump actually, honestly, believes the obvious bullshit he spouts? Like, legitimately thinks that when someone points out his falsehoods they're the ones making things up? What if he looked out upon the crowd and in his mind really saw that many people?

He's lost in a world only he can see and everyone else is blind, to him. It might explain his hyper-reactionary attitude.

If that's the case then he is delusional and suffering from a severe mental illness. There is no other way to describe someone who cannot comprehend objective reality. And if all of that is true then congress is duty bound to immediately impeach him as someone who is unfit for the office of president.

The media reported on what polling was showing. Yes, polling can be wrong about shit (though not a single poll put Trump's chances at victory that low), and most polling groups are pretty open about the fact that they royally messed up with the election. And many are looking into why their polling wasn't accurate this time, and what they can do to improve their methodology. Because polling is usually extremely accurate.

But you're mistaking polling being wrong with media making up polls. Something which did not happen at all.

I think some confusion was created about exactly what I meant by this:



It was a response to a post about people throwing up their hands and saying "I don't know who to listen to anymore", and that that was a deliberate action by the Trump camp, to obfuscate every issue, basically. My position was that the fact that the media blows every single little issue out of proportion regarding Trump (like heavily criticizing his crowd size), it makes the real issues less impactful, makes regular people think it's just another overblown "issue".

Basically, the media takes Trump's crowd size and turns the dial to 11 on reporting about it. Regular people are like, "...okay, whatever, I'm used to the constant stream of 'Trump is terrible' by now." Then Trump's team is dishonest about the crowd sizes. Again, media dials it up to 11 on reporting about it. Regular people (read: not people who somewhat closely follow politics, like you and I) say, "Okay, probably another blown out of proportion Trump evil."

The media turning it way up on every little issue makes their reporting on real issues less impactful.

Again it is not the media doing it. It is Trump. It is Trump blowing these issues up to 11 on the dial. There is no 11 if he doesn't lie.

They simply reported a fact. That is their job. Trump then blew that up to 11 by repeatedly lying about it.

You should not be trying to explain away Trumps lies in any way shape or form (which is exactly what you are doing). By doing that you are attempting to normalize them.

So any time Trump lies do not go "blah blah blah media", go "Trump lied I condemn his lies. He demeans the office he holds by lying". That is the only phrase that should come out of your mouth ANY time he lies.
