He would be my preferred candidate, but I think that the US is not ready for his policies, and Trump would have no problem at all utterly obliterating him. Why can't liberals give up their preferences and use their votes wisely? Republicans vote for the party, and they will not stay at home on the election day, no matter who the candidate is. IMO the Bernie or Bust people, who stayed at home, got their way. They got Bust, and they have NO right to complain.

Sanders isn't a communist (he is a socialist, but that is a very different thing and something that America has already completely embraced as much as we hate to admit it), and people crying communist didn't stop Obama from getting elected either.

Granted, I did actually go to the booths to vote for Clinton because Trump was worse. Imagine if every stuck-up Austinian had just relented and voted for the bad candidate, maybe Texas would have swung over and not given the presidency to the terrible one.

The result of 30 years or more of neo liberalism. A feature not a bug. When your ideology demands that any collective activities be marganalized youre going to get insitutional disillusionment. This applies very broadly. Virtually any collective activity that could stop rampant individualism must be undermined. Government, unions, the media, science, the church, take your pick. Its a dog eat dog world and dont think of using any organized body to work together to improve your lives. You really should trust in your future feudal land lords to do that.

I blame conservative talk radio. The rise of Rush Limbaugh and other right-wing nutjobs matches your graph. These days, they're all over the place, ofc.

Actually, Sanders seems to be a social democrat. This is the form of government practised in the Scandinavian countries. We have the highest standard of living in the world, free speech, free press, strong unions, free health care, free universities, strict gun laws and equal rights for minorities. Probably sounds like a liberal nightmare for the Trumpettes.

The Congress poll is always deceptive. A much more interesting graph would be of how the constituents feel about their own representatives.

Trump won because the DNC rigged their primaries and chose the WORST candidate in history to run for their party.

Well I for one hope the left continue their winning strategy of calling us racists and bigots so the right stays in power for the next 2 generations at least. I have to admit I have been finding myself further and further to the right solely because of constantly being called these buzzwords for the last three years straight. Also it seems much of the new generation growing up now is very right winged thanks to the backfiring tactics labelling Trump supporters as 'alt-right' and the memes that ensured.
I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

Sanders would not have won either because there is no way a socialist like Sanders would ever win the EC in an American election. It's why people like George Soros donated to Hillary, Jeb, Marco and John as they are all the same establishment puppets.

The problem is we have too many institutions. Many of those institutions have too much power or have outlived their original purpose. We have a lot of bad policy that needs to be removed. We have an enormous amount of regulation that holds the country back. Hopefully this administration will do the task of getting rid a lot of it.

No we didn't, it was shilled onto us where certain people have propped themselves up to make money from the term such as Richard Spencer with some like The Right Side/Mike Cernovitch being outed recently as shills thanks to doxxing which confirmed it. We have always been a collection of people on various ends of the right sided spectrum that are now much further to the right than before with many former left moderates now finding themselves in the same positions many of us were before Trump started to run for the primaries.

Naming 'dissidents' as a group makes them easier to both control and subvert however I think it has completely backfired much like the assumption that Trump wouldn't actually win. If he delievers on his promises which so far he has as both being the most active President-elect in recent history and already committing to his pledge of exiting the UN and hitting Islamic State hard during the first weekend of becoming president; then the right will be in power for a long time to come. For America, 2018 will be the final nail in the coffin for the left side for a long time to come.

Edit: The moment Trump announced his intention to run for President in 2015 I knew he would win, I really really really wish I put money on it as it would have accelerated my semi-retirement plan.

Richard Spencer is the one that made the term alt-right.

I really have no idea but he has made a career from coining the term if true so there you go.
The sheer majority hate the term but its brought in a lot of younger people and pretty much ensured the next generation will be mostly right winged with dem dank memes.

He won because he had a populist message against a particularly unpopular candidate who went through a number of scandals that was handled badly by the media in a climate of persistent push back of PC culture.

The young ones can fuck up their countries in due time. They just need to wait for the Boomers to stop fucking it up first.

Blaming the devil instead of yourself is as old as it's cowardly. "They made me do it" is a comfortable exit from "I wanted"/"I chose to". In other words, I agree with you.

No i dont either. In fact i imagine conditions will get worse for many of his supporters. It only remains to be seen how stupid the democrats will.be the next 4 years. They literally have to do nothimg but sit.back and watch it collapse but somehow someway im sure theyll manage to take the blame for it.

I don't understand this 'all the boomers fucked up western civilisation' meme. How did the average grandma and grandpa fuck things up? last I checked the baby boomer generation were called so because the mostly working class of the time were encouraged to procreate on a massive scale after countless millions were killed in WW2 especially since some countries had not fully recovered from the effects of WW1. Were they responsible in many countries such as Canada and Australia for driving up prices in the housing market due to largely unchecked housing investments to the extent of driving out much of the first home buyers? Did they take control of banks to set standards in interest rates and lending? Did the the average 'Ma and 'Pa take control of large commercial chains to dictate the retail sector? Are they responsible for setting high inflation against smaller wage increases each financial year???

Last I checked it was much higher at 46% but it really does not matter most Americans don't know who their representatives are and even if they did thanks to gerrymandering it's not like they have much in terms of choice.
