All I need is my DS and I can be entertained for hours. They can remove the screens and it would make little to no difference to me.

Your name will carry on through generations, and will never be forgotten.
Seeing as the boxes that power those screens take away a lot of the already VERY limited legspace in Economy I see this as a good think, as long as there is a Power supply in the seat I see this a a very smart move and Believe United have already done this on some machines as well.
I have flown 4x, none had TVs
AA is just fixing an issue that smart airlines like SouthWest never started.
SouthWest is BYOD. They have tons of free entertainment that can get you through a flight. Sure you watch a sponsors commercial, but who gives a fuck.
If you want to pay for premium entertainment they have that too
AA is one of the worst airlines in the country, right behind United.
I'm personally glad. I've flown enough with the touch screens in the back of the seats that there are few things I hate more. Why? Because apparently people have no self awareness to figure out that if you are banging on that screen with your fingers, you are jarring the person in front of you. And most of those screens lost their sensitivity and some guys just jam on it has hard as possible changing the channels or whatever they are doing every 10 secs. I hated being that guy who has to turn around has ask they not beat on the screen so hard.
Though that's mostly been replaced with people who want to watch movies on their phones\tablets with no headphones in.

Makes a lot of sense. Between my 256gb iPhone 7 and my 256gb iPad Pro, it's not like I lack for devices to watch. If 90% of people on their flights all bring their own devices...why waste money and resources embedding them into the backs of seats next to no one is going to use?
