Illidan defeated a powerless guldan who was incapable to do anything but what would happen if illidan tried to go in a fight against a fully powered guldan without external help? would he still be able to defeat the warlock?

A fully powered Gul'dan is not a one-on-one fight. It would have to be Illidan vs. phase 1 Gul'dan if we're going by no help.
Illidan would slaughter gul'dan.
Anemo: traveler, Sucrose
Pyro: Yanfei, Amber, diluc, xiangling, thoma, Xinyan, Bennett
Geo: Noelle, Ningguang, Yun Jin, Gorou
Hydro: Barbara, Zingqiu, Ayato
Cyro: Shenhe, Kaeya, Chongyun, Diona, Ayaka, Rosaria
Electro: Fischl, Lisa, Miko, Kujou, Raiden, Razor
For Gul'Dan - cheating is classified as fair
Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.
Illidan wins unless gul'dan is full hulk mode like the raid with sargeras' steroid boost.
Base Illidan vs Base Gul'dan?
All that remains of Gul'dan is a pile of blood, urine and vomit.
Gul'dan, people that say Illidan are fanboys.
In most scenarios "yes"...
In Gul'dans final form... not so sure about that one...
Especially after seeing how Blizzard is trying to make us feel like we are on a somewhat similar level in strength as lore characters are lately.
BTW; when did we revert to shonen-fan level of discussions on these forums?
Gul'dan would never fight ''fair'', he'd get a demon hunter to betray illidan,
WIthout Gul'dan's Eye of Amanthul shenanigans Illidan would win.
Same results as the cinematic but add in a few spell dodging.

Give both time to prepare and Gul'dan would win every time. Not even Khadgar is foolish enough to fight a prepared Gul'dan

Bleh
WoD Gul'dan is not our-universe Gul'dan. The Gul'dan we fight in Nighthold got immense power-up by absorbing the energies of Tomb of Sargeras during the audiobook Blizzard created short before Legion launch. Back then he was comparable to Khadgar, and even hid before him. Now, Khadgar is like a flea comparing to Gul'dan.
Nevertheless, Illidan's true power emerges while fighting against fel. Hard to say who would win. -
Illidan consumed Gul'dans power, so it's his power + Gul'dan power vs Gul'dan power.
Obvious answer.
People are saying that Gul'dan would prepare better for the fight or cheat. Maybe, but he would still lose. Illidan destroyed him the same way Gul'dan destroyed Varian, that orc couldn't handle as much fel power as Illidan.
Nonetheless - Illidan was the one who killed him once and for all.
Why does it have to be Guldan without any enhancements while it's fine for Illidan to use all the powers he absorbed from various artifacts?
Gul'dan wouldn't even let himself get into a "fair" fight with ANYONE.
That outclasses raw power any day imo.
Fact (because I say so): TBC > Cata > Legion > ShaLa > MoP > DF > BfA > WoD = WotLK
