About the heroic split raids: From Scratch used a lot of external people for the split raids in the first week. You had to have more than 880 ilvl and 35 traits, and all the loot was obviously funneled onto the guild.

This is a myth that has been busted countless times in the past. There have been many guilds that raided just as much as the top 3 and never managed to touch them.
Vodka, premonition, blood legion, Envy (the most classic tryhard example, a guild that was always 5-10).
You want more recent examples? Look at from scratch, always 4-5th. Look at Danish Terrace and Nihilul, who also raided same amount as top3 guilds on quite a few tiers. You cannot possibly believe their players are on par with Serenity/Method players.
Nothing of that matters anymore...Athene is back to WOW!

Seeing how close kill times were on Augur (Serenity & Exorsus) and on Elisandre (Serenity, Exorsus & Method), these lost hours could be a big issue for Serenity
They're still ahead of Method, two days is a huge gap, but it's getting smaller now. Exorsus caught up at least if we're talking about time, they were behind like 8-10 hours last week and probably raided for that today already. If it continues tomorrow then Method is going to catch up as well.
Past top 10, it becomes more about intangibles. Gearing alts as you pointed out (esp with titanforge being around) is one thing. Others include:
getting 54 traits in an alt spec
getting 54 traits in an alt
attitude - can you keep off tilt after wiping for hours? Does wiping make you want to come back more the next day?
spend hours picking through logs and vods to find little things to fix
when you are tired as fuck and it's 3am can you push on and raid tired and actually produce some good pulls?
do you go back to your own logs and pick apart small things you did wrong?
A mix of the above is ultimately what creates a top 3 player. It's mentally punishing and draining to try to be that player but if you really want to be that player you have to persevere and bring intangibles to the table to go with your WoW skill. Top 3 is about fractions of percents and small edges and (honestly) a little luck. The first kills of many bosses (end or mid tier blockers) are incredibly tight and 1 fuck up is the difference between a kill and no kill.
I don't think they are behind because you are underestimating the impact the gear has in WF race. Let's take Method for an example. It took them ages to kill Star Augur and Elisandre but after reset they oneshotted Elisandre.
Serenity might have hade most time on the boss but what you are not taking into accout is the fact that they might have been wiping at a point in the fight because they didn't have enough dps to maybe overcome that phase. With reset that wil not be the case for them but becasue they missed most of today and have not even started that point in that fight will not be an issue for both Exorsus and Method especially Exorsus.
This isn't related to my argument. Read carefully:
To counter it you gave examples of raiders who ARE willing to sacrifice so much of their life and DO sacrifice it.majority of top 10 players is top 10 and not top 3 because they are unwilling to sacrifice so much of their life
Anybody can right now check the raid schedules of top 10 guilds and see if they dayraid or not.
While I agree that people are spewing a ton shit, including the guy you responded to, so are you.
Zaelia has been playing on Sokila on some of the earlier bosses while having Gamko on Mandrai instead.
Here's some proof for you:
https://youtu.be/fAUIDN2H7Oc?t=9 (You can clearly see on Viklund's notes to the left that there's a certain 'Kenn'(Zaelia) listed.)
https://youtu.be/Q_KG4bx4A7w?t=327 (Yes, that's our boy Zaelia saying "We still have link...".
So yeah, Zaelia has in fact been playing which is fun to see considering he's a fantastic player.
That Gamko played Sokila on Star Augur is correct.
