I support the ban in this exact case. Even if the other side does it to. They are private, so they don't have to be fair. The right needs to stop being lazy and invent their own twitter\Reddit\Facebook\Youtube systems\networks.

A very small portion of the population did, and they did so for profit. I can't say I understand banning a subreddit. The people are still around and will simply move elsewhere. Wouldn't individual IP bans be more effective?

One can hope that Twitter would be even-handed on the bans, dealing with rulebreaking on either side of the political spectrum. I only ever go to r/funny, so I won't speak on who is saying what.

I should have clarified it was more my own personal reaction to the comments on the SJW reddit being comparable to the alt_right ones as some of the posters on this thread were making that argument.

Unless specifically calling for harm or targeting individuals I think these people should be left alone to their own devices. They set an important example for others on the extent how low some people can truly go.

I agree the best way to really tackle crazy talk, is to bring the crazy talkers front and center and let them crazy talk all they want. But like I said, in this exact case, in which a private company's rules were being broken, the private company has the right to shut it down. The right complains all the cool technology is owned by the left and the left controls the media and the left\far left uses their control to silence the opposition. Time to step up and own something for themselves. 1 TV channel that is guilty of twisting the facts themselves isn't really an ideal way to be heard.

As people have noted, banning a subreddit is more of a symbolic action than a meaningful one. They are only showing their bias and attempting to attract positive attention. The actual impact it will have on the people who post there is close to nothing

I dont want to be rude... but many of the trolls on 4chan or alt-right reddits or sub forums are teens. At most they are 17-18, so they havent seen real life yet... many of them may have trouble socializing in real life (as i have) so the use internet and annonimity to do that. Give em time

Why is it so hard for them to create their own website and forums? You can basically do this with Wordpress in 10 minutes. They can delete, ban, and complain about all the SJW post they want on their own site.
