How to stop getting Lua errors?

I got a few addons who don't work anymore due to lua error.
I know i can disable the lua errors of popping up, but that doesnt make the addon work still.

Any clues?

Have you tried deleting the wtf folder if I recall that can help but I think it also means you have to redo all of your add on settings.

Or you can copy the errors and send them to the add on author.

Update your addons to a version that works with the current game.

Most errors are triggered by addons. However, many errors are also triggered by blizzard ui because their codes are buggy.

Lol, if the add on is broken, then the add on is broken.

Delete it, update it or replace it.

Stop using broken add ons. That is the only way to really stop the lua errors. You can turn off the warning for them, but that is like unplugging your smoke detector as your house is on fire. It doesn't stop the fire only lets you ignore it a little longer.

are u using the curse program to keep ur addons up to date? updated addons dont cause lua, unless its a really bad addon

It's fully updated. And it works on my friends account, just not mine anymore the addon.

Try doing a full removal and reinstallation of the addon then. Maybe you have some corrupt files or some older files that are breaking things.

I tried that, did not work

run game repair, delete WTF/Interface folders, install new addons and redo your UI from scratch.
Also don't install addons that arent rated for patch 7.1.5

thats the nuclear "will fix it" option.

I once used moveanything and that addon caused serious permanent lua errors until I purged all of my folders and restarted like that.

Have you tried installing each addon all by itself? Poorly written addons can have conflicts with other addons in some cases. Also, the WTF/Interface/Cache folders contain files that addons use. These folders can safely be removed for troubleshooting purposes.

Just because LUA Error is blaming one addon, it does NOT mean that is the offending addon!!!, tainted UIs, blocked calls can caused by any addon and the next addon to trigger an event is usually the one blamed.
