They should start arresting them at home depot, there are always a ton of them standing around in the parking lots in California.

From reality - that area of the world commonly overlooked by Trump supporters.

You should try it some time - it is AMAZING.

I admit, the estimates are very conservative and the likely outcome would be far more expensive and time consuming.

Hints - legal costs, transport costs, food, accommodation, guards, administration for all 11 million.

Indeed, and we can reliably identify illegal aliens by the colour of their skin ... it has worked so well before.

House <> country ... just in case you don't have access to a dictionary yourself.

House is a private space, a country is a shared space. So your analogy fails.

They also report less crime because guess what?, they are illegal and most of the people they associate with are also illegal. Illegals make up 30% of our prison population so they must be doing some crimes.

Same difference it's somewhere not everyone is allowed to go. But by all means go into Mexico illegally and see what happens to ya.

If only we had a legal way to allow people from other countries to gain citizenship in the US

You don't, not for people in those positions. The legal way is too time consuming, expensive and these people would likely be dead before their cases were heard.

If your aspirations for a country are Mexico ... then that's fine. But if your aspirations are to the US constitution - then you need to check your racist feelings and let rationality seep in.

Crossing the border without reporting to border control or customs is a misdemeanor. Jay walking, speeding, changing lanes without using a signal, and other minor things you probably do every day are also misdemeanors.

Guess it's time you got locked up and deported for going 5 miles over the speed limit, eh?

Inconvenience is not an excuse or a valid reason. There are plenty of people who go through the legitimate channels, jump through all the hoops in order to come to the US. Why should these special snowflakes get preference over others just because they find it inconvenient?

Because the US can't afford the time and money required to get those snowflakes back to whence they came. It is that simple.

Focus everyone - on the actual problem for a moment.

    Be rational.

I wonder how many of these "it's about respect for the rule of law!!111" types would have different feelings about following every single law no matter what if legislation were passed restricting their right to own firearms... what a bunch of hypocrites!

It is a pretty simple answer. Instead of maligning an entire group of people because of how you 'think' they might react, pass the laws and find out.

I have no interest in passing gun control legislation, I am simply interested in why so many people have so much respect for the rule of law... until they run into a law that they do not agree with.

"But Shoegazing, if we didn't have rule of law then everyone would just run around raping and murdering each other!"

Oh, is the law against killing the only reason that you are not a murder?

"Because it's the law" is such a shit argument. Japanese internment was the law during WWII and slavery was the law for century -- does that make those things morally acceptable?

Good! They aren't "undocumented" they are here ILLEGALLY for crying out loud. We already have one of the easiest paths to citizenship there is. Follow it! Oh wait, these people don't want to be citizens. As far as I am concerned they should all be deported IMMEDIATELY, they have no "rights" and they damn sure are not protected by the constitution! Kids, young, old, working or sponging off the government makes no difference. Regardless of circumstances, if you are not here legally and learning English and becoming a productive member of America and assimilating into it's value and culture, get the hell out and stay the hell out.

so you'd rather engage in what-ifs, and other assorted distractions... got it... you are dismissed.

    you have terrible reading comprehension

the point of my post is to call out the hypocrisy of those that claim to support the rule of law, but only when it is convenient to them personally

of course I suspect that you understood this and are merely playing stupid, so let me say it again for you: "because it's the law" is one of the worst arguments one could make. slavery was the law in the united states, and slavery was wrong. therefore laws are not infallible moral absolutes.

Or we could stop giving foreign aid. We spend well more than 600 billion on foreign aid over 20 years that we could use instead
