My man, I got goosebumps just reading the songtitle. Though it's not an original piece of soundtrack the way they used it will always be one of my favorite OSTs in anime. Though, the rest of the SSY OST is also absolutely stunning.

I loved it when they used the choir pieces in the OST. I still get tears in my eyes when I listen to them. They utilized them so perfectly and the songs just convey that feeling of mystery and unimaginable grandness so well. SSY is a story of such a grand scale, it's just wonderful.

SSY spoilers below.

I still tear up when I hear "Going Home" mainly because it reminds me of the last episode and it reminds me of when it was playing during the attack, and why it was playing and then why it stopped. It's such a poignant piece of music as it is, and in the context of this, as you put perfectly, grand story, it's just bittersweet and is part of the reason I love rewatching this show; each time it plays, it gives you time to reflect on everything that is going to happen and helps you really feel that broad array of emotions that the story triggers.

The entire soundtrack is fantastic, except for maybe that song that played during sportsball in episode 2 or 3. I also really like that choir piece "Traditional" a lot, and there's that one really sad-sounding piano track and the other track that starts with the strings that I can't remember the name of either. I wouldn't say that the OST itself is the best (I think that, musically, Shigatsu is better, just as an example) but paired with how well it was incorporated and the emotions that it made me feel, it's just a fantastic little collection of music.

Actually just started reading this again. Starting from Chapter 1 due to how long it's been since I read.

Yeah, it's been going for quite some time, but should be finishing up in the next few months... Extensions/side-stories not withstanding. Still one of the best 'death game' manga out there.

On the topic of SSY I started watching it with my dad last night. His only statement was, "This is profoundly strange." I think perhaps it's too anime-y for him to jump into directly. Also shows how I don't even notice anime oddities anymore, like how he thought the angles and appearances of characters were just odd.
