Oh no, I can. That's why I voted for him, because unlike the majority of the people (who voted Clinton.) I'm smart enough to make basic decisions. What worries me is the sheer amount of people who take everything they see on their local news as gospel. The media is very powerful nowadays, too powerful to go unchecked. One can always do their research, but everyone I tell in person about the biased media overlords think I'm crazy, because "if its on the Columbus news it must be true". We have to assume that people don't do their research and cross check information, because those people seem to make up the majority.
Every single person out there protesting President Trump today and every member of the Black Lives Matter are victims of the unchecked media. The media is too powerful to be allowed to recklessly sensationalize their massive trusting audience. We have no reason to dislike Trump, we have no reason to think the police are out hunting for blood, but they make it seem like everyone and their mother are doing it and maybe you want to join them. Every time Trump lifts a finger, here's the media with a few different shots of protests and talk of controversy. Every. Single. Time. They can't just report the news, they have to make it look evil and get people riled up.
I know a lot of people who call Trump racist, despite there being no ground to base that claim on. I hear a thousand arguments about how "immigrants built this country," and how the President is being un-American for wanting to build the Wall. This is because the media doesn't get ratings for talking about the "big beautiful gate", but only the Wall. I'm just sick of it, even if its just the vocal minority being won over by these snake-oil salesmen we know all too well what vocal minorities can accomplish. Trump won because he was big enough that the lies and selective reporting couldn't bring him down, that enough Americans had enough of their shit and could think for themselves. But that might not last forever. The media needs to be countered, somehow, to prevent sensationalist garbage from being treated as cold hard fact. The sad thing is that too many people are swayed by whatever they hear on their TV, and that's too dangerous to be left alone.
Media definitely can be the enemy of the people, else nobody would have a problem with InfoWars or Breitbart. Do consider that the difference between Breitbart and CNN these days is largely that CNN has been around for 40-ish years.
The victims of the Bowling Green massacre didn't die so you can come online and spew your nonsense. If we're having a discussion about the truth and it's being fact checked the media is going to win versus Trump bigly, 95% or more.
Further, half the things you claim the media is lying about are opinions not facts. Your inability to distingiush between the two is quite sad.
Media should get any flak for bias that has run rampant recently.
Having said that, it doesn't take the news show the instability and ignorance of Trump. Just watch him on live/recorded videos.
The wise wolf who's pride is her wisdom isn't so sharp as drunk.
Except we know the media lied about it. If you actually looked at the evidence instead of using cliché words you'd know this.
p.s. liberal is not the same as the regressive left, even if many liberals in USA are part of it. Now, stop following your own law by making assumptions.
I mean pretty much all the mainstream media that has an agenda. Their only agenda should be the truth. And the blame falls even moreso on the braindead u.s. population who don't demand truth or even basic facts. Yeah, they're doing it now because of lunatic Trump. But all these same people worshiped Obama, who was evil. Where was the quest for truth during those 8 years? So at the root of the problem is a lemming populace who view a President as either the Devil or a rock star. Guess what...reality is somewhere in between.
It is a good thing trump is more greedy than he is ideological. Otherwise he is Hitler and Stalin with access to nukes!
Katie Hopkins calls CNN
the "CLINTON NEWS NETWORK" lol
Which it is
.I love Katie Hopkins Sexy British Accent Btw
So by 'free press' you mean multi billion dollar corporations that attempt to control the platforms through which information is disseminated in society? These institutions do not represent everyone in society, they represent a small elite group that has its own agenda.
We may be at the point where the corporate media is actually making itself the biggest threat to free speech as it attempts to suppress emerging voices on social media, which is quickly surpassing the legacy television and print media.
Most people would rather die than think, and most people do. -Bertrand Russell
Before the camps, I regarded the existence of nationality as something that shouldn’t be noticed - nationality did not really exist, only humanity. But in the camps one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity - too bad for you -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
You're misreading history. As the best way to hide greed and pillaging of the public treasury, is to hide it behind some kind of ideology.
Like create a nationalist ideology. Tell the public its needed to fight homosexual culture or CIA plots from overturning their way of life. Grats, your name might be Vladmir Putin. Your prize is a $2 Billion Dacha on the Black Sea.
That would be why Trump got so much free coverage from the mainstream media, and why most of the coverage of Hillary was "emails!". And somehow that was 'balanced'.
The press loved Trump pre-election (he sold their news), and he thought they were mostly great. Now that they're being critical, he hates them.
All I smell is desperation. Desperation and denial. Trump's whining has lost its novelty.
The insanity that spews from Trump's mouth no longer infuriates me as it's clear that even republican lawmakers think he's totally nuts, even if they have to pay him lip service to keep their jobs. Does the news media lean liberal? Yes. Does that mean Trump wouldn't turn the US into North Korea if he could? No.
Goodness man, you are really fixated on having the last laugh over this guy. You gonna ask him out yet?
Same with the political parties and the electors that we vote for during the campaigns. It's hard to represent 300+million people at once.
