you should maybe think about the lore before you talk about the lore
as said above ^^^^^^
in our universe he was commanded to help lead the horde to wipe out azeroths forces, but he ditched the horde, brought some of his forced to the tomb, causing the horde to lose the war so the demons seeing him as having betrayed them murdered him
in the AU he has been working his best for them, and hasent strained
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.
Depends what guldans goals were, thats assuming that he was planning on fulfilling the legions plans, AU guldan in the audio drama was tempted by the power in the tomb, he reluctantly opened the portal for the legion while mulling over the idea of harnessing the power in the tomb for himself, MU guldan would have almost certainly robbed the tomb rather than open a portal for the legion.
lul I come back and snarky OP is banned.
Of course.

Yeah there's pretty much no chance Gul'Dan would of used the Tomb for anything but his own power and enrichment if it wasn't for the sort of warning "hey you tried this shit before and it didn't go well" AU Gul'Dan got, even then he only gave that power up to open the portal reluctantly. It's simply in Gul'dans nature to be purely selfish and power hungry, Kil'jeaden wasn't wrong about that at all. Gul'Dan at his core, all versions of him is a purely selfish character, he'd screw over ANYONE if it meant a chance at greater power for himself, he's someone willing to sell out his entire race purely for personal power. The only reason AU Gul'Dan opened the portal instead of keeping the power for himself was because he knew the Legion would come for HIM if he didn't.
A lot of Warcraft villains have some kind of tragic origin, or rationale that you can kinda make sense of, hell even Sargeras. But Gul'Dan? No he is at his very core just an utterly vile person and everything he's ever done was in persuit of more and more personal power no matter who he had to screw over. Azshara is much the same way, though she's more loyal to her masters than Gul'dan is. O and the Old Gods + Void Lords of course since their pretty much literal darkness given physical and sentient form.

here is why
the last line is why :P
so, so right
Yeah pretty much, though guldan did have a shit origin, where he was a weak cripple in a society that only respected power.
Not that i actually care if he had a sad story to tell, not every villain needs to be relatable, its nice to have just a flat out bastard from time to time.
