maybe if the regressive left didn't keep labeling everyone who disagrees with them as a nazi, then you wouldn't make the assumption that people are 'defending nazis'.

Too bad only a tiny minority actually does this.

The Nazi in question was passing out American Nazi Party pamphlets. I get that you thought this was a good time to throw out that buzzword you just learned about but it doesn't apply in this case.

I can assure you, I don't use buzzfeed as my news source like certain folks here do. And just like the denial that theres something messed up happening in sweden right now, denial of nazi labeling doesn't wash when its used every day by the left to describe anyone supporting trump.

You sort of sidestepped his main point, which is that the people in question are actually Nazis and not just people labeled Nazis.

    from the op:
California Polytechnic State University - Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, a young man was punched by an unidentified person with a covered face in front of Robert E. Kennedy Library.

The young man was passing out fliers with neo-Nazi sentiment Wednesday in the same location. The fliers portrayed a Nazi symbol with the words, “American Nazi Party” and “Symbol of White Power.”
    I also didn't say buzzfeed.

    buzz·word
    ˈbəzˌwərd
    noun informal
a word or phrase, often an item of jargon, that is fashionable at a particular time or in a particular context.

Yes yes, theres always gonna be people like that, you know, like seriel murderers. But lately it seems because of republicans gaining office again, the word has been thrown around a lot simply because its easier to call someone the N word rather then look what their saying objectively. People even called yiannopoulos a nazi.. sure he's fucked up and may have done things with underage people (shivers).. but just calling him a nazi is intellectually dishonest.

Sure, but this is pretty much all tangential to the topic.

Alternatively, it could be because ethno-nationalists have played a drastically increased roll in both this campaign and the new administration.

Yes, be condescending. You're getting really far with your points and attacking me because I despise identity politics and being called a nazi because of my opinions on free speech.

Is it okay to punch a communist then? They killed way more people all over the world than the Nazis ever did.

How about "capitalists"? Capitalist governments have killed millions of people too.

Cool? Seems kind of a false story. Were it worded with the "nazi" part it removed, it would just be a random assault. Adding "Neo-Nazi" to the story only serves to afford little sympathy for the... uh, nazi, I suppose.

No one should give a shit. Basically.

The only issue there even is to debate, is the morality of the assailant, which I find lacking above and beyond the assault.
It's not legal hair-splitting. They are completely different things.

The right to free speech is designed to protect you from abuse of power by a government. It has nothing to do with private citizens. Not applicable at all.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." - Isaac Asimov

So you are okay with punching communists then right? The Khmer Rouge did almost wipe out the entire Khmer people after all just like the Nazis almost wiped out the Ashkenazi Jews and Gypsies.

The guy passing those out was not a Hare Krishna. But go ahead, invite him over for a BBQ.

I'm guessing you missed the part where the person in question admitted to being a Nazi and was handing out Nazi pamphlets to find members. You just waxed pro-Nazi.
If you push a button that finds you a 'random group' and it gives you a random group of people with random skill and random knowledge then you have no right to complain that a 'random group' button did what it was designed to do. The fault lies in your inability to make friends to play with instead of relying on a button designed to be random. It is a 'random group' button, not a 'best of the best' button.
