Pence went to the cemetery with Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens who was going to the cemetery to help repair it. It's what politicians do.

Although its most likely just a photo op, you sure as hell wouldn't see Turnip doing this.

This is why, as much as I disagree with him on nearly every issue, I'd much rather have him than Turnip.

While personally getting your hands dirty is admirable, it's not necessarily the most efficient way to help. Instead of having one weak old man swinging a rake, a wealthy man could hire ten strong young men to do the raking.

Not sure if they actually ever do that though.

I'm not sure creating a minimum wage temporary position lasting a whole three hours or so is actually worth the effort it would take to find and hire someone rather than to just do it himself. This seems like the sort of piddly economic micromanaging that Trump keeps engaging in, which isn't actually even remotely sensible, but looks good to equally clueless people.

Yeah, but think of how much it would cost to have him, or Pence there to do it for 3 hours.

It would still probably be cheaper to just reach out to a Temp Agency and hire out the cleanup....

Pence was only there for a Photo Op, as others have stated. No one is going to go and clean that stuff up wearing a suit. If he were going to actually stay there and 'work' he would have worn something more casual/comfortable.

That one shot with the Rake is probably the only thing he did. Just like Cal-Trans workers. 1 Guy in the ditch working, 10 guys holding up shovels.
