Maybe he is from the future and used a transporter from a spaceship to get on top of the fence? Either way? Yawn.

That barrier does look to be extremely easy to climb, like laughably easy.

You're saying that passive defenses like walls all invariably and inevitably fail to keep out a determined attacker?!?

Why has nobody brought this to anybody's attention before? HAS THE PRESIDENT BEEN INFORMED?

“A physical barrier in and of itself—certainly a military person understands defense and defenses. A physical barrier in and of itself will not do the job,” General Kelly said in response to a question about construction of a border wall from Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain. “It really has to be a layered defense. If you were to build a wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico, you’d still have to back that wall up with patrolling by human beings, by sensors, by observation devices, but as I’ve said to many of the Senators present, I believe the fence of the Southwest border really starts about 1,500 miles south, and that is partnering with some great countries as far south as Peru, really, that are very cooperative with us in terms of getting the drug production, transport… We could have better partnerships. We could work closer with them. We could give them more of what they need.”

It works in conjunction with the virtual wall we have already and need to expand. People have this notion that trumps wall is just a physical barrier and that is it. They are very wrong.

Well, he was sure talking a lot about building that physical wall.

What's next, constant spying on all brown people? Red tagging anyone whose name ends with an "S" or "Z" to make sure they are 'Mericans?

No. The wall is a $20 billion dollar safety blanket, and not one thing more. That's exactly what Kelly is saying. Walls do not work. That is why country's generally stopped building them.

Active defenses... that virtual wall, but also interdicting would-be illegal immigrants at source, is what people who are actually interested in securing the border would be interested in. If you want to actually fight illegal immigration, you'd be laser focused on economic development in Latin America.

But the wall isn't actually about securing the border. It's a monument. It's a statement, about America as a mono-ethnic state, rather than a rapidly diversifying and browning one.

For the life of me, I do not get why Trumpkins are so for something that a future President is going to symbolically tear down. Think of it like "Trump's Obamacare". Without a Democratic buy in, it's just a matter of time until power changes hands, and the entire thing is torn to pieces.

That's another idea born in the obama presidency. I'm not blaming him for the virtual wall or ICM. He actually realized that maybe if we finally secured the border than it would be the time to actually give the dreamers a chance at citizenship? I dislike a lot of what he has done when he was president but he had moments of clarity like this that is his real legacy.

Maybe if their sensors are utter shit and a birds and rocks trigger them. That's not the case, any half decent sensor can be tuned to be triggered only by something of a certain size or bigger. My own cheap house alarm sensor will not be triggered by someone throwing a ball of paper.

All of which would be illegal and im sure as an immigrant to the US you want to be charged with destruction of government property. You know how trump says hes going to get those who committed crimes out first? Well doing any of those things is an easy way to get a criminal record and get u express shipped right back across the border.

When has Donnie Boy talked about anything else but a physical wall?

He certainly does seem like he wants any sort of joint operation with Mexico or Central America. Remember, Donnie is neither subtle or secretive, it those were his intentions then he would have touted them ad nauseum 10 months ago.

You act like they're going to walk around singing about how they destroyed a wall. Which is super weird, as well as super inconsistent with the fact that most would bypass the wall LEGALLY and overstay, so the only "criminal" offense would be the overstay... which is a misdemeanor at best. The "express shipping" you're referring to tend to go for felonious acts, which overstaying a visa is not.

But that does nothing, because they will just come back. The wall is pointless, and is cost prohibitive in so many ways. We would have to constantly monitor the entire stretch, and make immediate repairs.

Donald Trump is a master of controlled distraction. Keep thinking otherwise lol. Even CNN journalists admit it.

Do you lock the door to your dwelling? If you do then by your logic you aren't for freedom.

And whats wrong with having the military or another defense force patrolling the border? Hell at least that spending money for defending the border has Constitutional backing.. I'd rather patrol the Mexican border than to pay for Military sitting in a desert in the middle east

His magic trick is wearing off. That's Trump's problem. He's a wrestler with one special move. And it works less well every time he does it.

And he's been President for 5 weeks.

Get a kite on a windy day. Make a big wooden wheel and roll it up, with some rope attached to pull it back.
Get a big sheet, tie the ends onto rope, stand a couple hundred feet back and let it blow towards the wall. It's now emptying the guns.

Motion sensors are not going to stop people for long.
