She was working on the story at CatCo, being paid while working on it, using their computers and office space. And I think Snapper said she didn't just upload it to some personal blog, but to another media company's site.
I'm glad that story line is over (I hope). She never had any training to be a reporter, it was something she picked up almost out of a hat at the end of season 1. And the only decent stories she seemed to have were ones based on Supergirl. She was generally shown to be a pretty poor reporter. Without Cat being around they really did need to drop that whole aspect of the show because she's what made it work by her being a mentor to Kara/Keira.
I actually wonder if James Olsen is going to be going away too, he seems to be on a limited contract this season, and with the abandonment of the Kara-Olsen love storyline he really hasn't had that much to do - and I doubt he'll become Guardian full time.
That said, they really need to give Kara something else to do; being Supergirl all the time "dehumanizes" her.

I thought this week's episode was much better than last week's predictable cliche-beat. Plus it had Supergirl rescuing Lena in an OTP heartsqueeing moment.
I do find it amusing tho that people assume Kara could just post a blog online and immediately get noticed.

It was a personal blog, the name of the site was "danvers.com"

Right, that's what I meant, they mentioned the planet name, but not "the prison planet". Just making sure I didn't miss something, thanks.
Yeah, and I know CyberJerry is an alien specialist, but it still seems a lot more trouble than his cooperation is worth. That spaceship must be worth quite the dime. And capturing/deporting aliens was meant to be a compromise between Lilian and Jerimiah in order to secure his cooperation, and was probably also meant to be a thinly-veiled allegory for the current situation with illegal "aliens" being rounded up and deported in the real world, which is why they couldn't just shoot them all.

She had certainly gotten the core story "on the clock", but the story was then refused. She typed it up and published it to the site at home. But, I mean, she had one of those "tv show jobs" where she barely ever worked and we didn't know what her terms were anyway, so I guess whatever.
You know, this episode was the first time I liked Snapper. Wasn't just some grump, was mad at her for her unprofessionalism, it made sense and it fit. I assume she can still get paid by the government, but they already removed Wyn from CatCo, so it's just Guardian/ Olsen still there, and I really don't understand why he is CEO either, so... whatever.I'm glad that story line is over (I hope). I do like this season better than 1, but the changes have been pretty steady, hard to say what is here to stay.
"I only feel two things Gary, nothing, and nothingness."
Yeah I heard him say that too, but given how clueless Kara can be about the real world, I wonder if she created that under some other company. Like SBNation.com is a collection of sports blogs each with their own domain, but they're part of a bigger company. Not really worth thinking too hard about, the writers aren't exactly going for realism here.
Yeah, it's just nitpicking really. I just think it would have been a better delivery with Snapper just firing her for being unprofessional and not taking the ethics of the job seriously enough to do the legwork.
I mean, seriously, her sister is in the DEO. Wynn, who both of them know from this job, also DEO, Krenshaw, DEO. Sisters GF, local PD. Maybe the DEO isn't widely known? But I mean, they've had public missions, so I'd think Snapper would know about them if not have full info.
You know, Supergirl is the WORST source she could have used for the list-leak-story...
"I only feel two things Gary, nothing, and nothingness."
Yeah, I know why she left, though I thought she was going to be in more episodes. But, why not drop the ball right at the start of Season 2 and drop CatCo entirely? Why make Olsen CEO, with no real justification, then have Kara wander as a reporter for a while before she ditches CatCo too?

yeah, I'm trying to remember the details from when Martian Manhunter was revealed on TV in that one battle. In either case though, Snapper should have an idea that such an agency exists I'd imagine, or if not, their cover ID's would be as useful as anything if they're not going public as sources. Unnamed sources are pretty standard fare for newspapers, especially with a story about this alien registry getting stolen, I'd think.

Episode wasn't to bad, Winn's line about Cisco was spot on. Sucks he wont be on flash tomorrow.
SG n Mon-El will probably get back together next week or at end of flash when he saves her, or she could go cry on Lena's shoulder and...
yeah. i feel Cisco-Winn would be exciting, more so than Cisco-Felicity. Barry-Felicity works well, but they made Barry far less sciency than his first appearance on Arrow.
I have come to like Mon-El a lot, a loveable rogue. I think he's a nice match for Kara... bit of a player/bad-boy but really trying..he's got flaws and faults and brings something different to the dynamic.
i still feel season 1 was way different than season 2, and tbh, seemed of a higher standard even though a lot of the crew stayed. The whole Catco thing with Calista Flockheart was nice. Shame that's gone, it was too supermanny tbh, which was my biggest gripe with it initially but i laso quite liked it.
Seriously, how did Jimmy suit up and get all the way there that fast when the mind guy was controlling Mon-El
Solid episode, altho the "surprise" at the end wasn't too hard to see coming.
I liked Rhea's Kryptonite sais.

Yeah that was a major plot hole, they didn't even know about how the yellow sun would affect them because they mentioned about feeling different when they first got there, also how did they even know about kryptonite even being able to hurt SG and the fact that they would even need it. They also said the trip would take 4 years from earth to their planet, so not like they made a quick trip between the 2 episodes.
