doom lord is a title
we see this with the pitlord called "doom lord" in the illidan warbringer thing that came out before legion

doom lord is a title
originally it seems to have been a race? as we thought, as only the big demon bat like things were called doom lord, but we now have 2 beings that are not that called "doom lord" and that race is simply called "doom guard" as based on the file, but doomlord is the title given to those doomguard who are very strong http://wow.gamepedia.com/Doomlord
(getting the name of the pitlord named doom lord real quick 1 sec)
(this here is inaccurate)http://wow.gamepedia.com/Doom_lord
http://wow.gamepedia.com/Azgoth
Doom Lord Azgoth, yet he is simply a very powerful pit lord
https://youtu.be/mUfOIvlC6Eo?t=2m14s
so doom guards are the powerful demonic humanoid bat creatures
well doom lords seems to be a title listed upon them, so we dont really know the name of the race of krosus, he seems to be a mix of infernal and eredar, and i doubt he would have a race name then...

The obvious answer to this question is that if we didn't deal with Krosus, or the other whackos we go kill they would help their commander when we went after them. So for Gul'dan Tich and Krosus would show up. For Elisande we would have Botanist, Augur, and Spellblade. Now the lore reason we can't just skip ahead and incur this issue and fight multiple bosses at once? There isn't one. This isn't the first time though that we've had something like this. Hell Kromok for example couldn't hope to enter HFC until we are on top fighting Manny or the short time fighting Iskar but there we are having to kill him to gain access to Gorefiend.
I'm assuming "Doom Lord" is actually a Legion honorific and not Krosus' species designation - there's some confusion on the matter with the Shadow Priest artifact, but even it is unclear on exactly how it uses the reference. Xal'atath only refers to it as "an interesting amalgamation of fel species" but never gives it's kind a name that I can tell. I think Krosus is currently a one-of-a-kind that has attained the appellation of "Doom Lord" in the same manner as Asrogol or Kaz'eth before it had.
There might be more of its kind on Argus, but they may not have reached the rank of Doom Lord and thus weren't selected to be a part of the Legion vanguard on Azeroth.

yeah it has to be a title, cause it doesent make sense otherwise, also yeah as you stated, it never says "this is a doom lord, they are this" it says "this doom lord is a blah blah" never stating it is the species, just saying it is a doom lord
krosus whatever he is
asrogol the pitlord
and lord kazzak and kaz'eth both "Doomlords"

The thing is, raid encounters aren't really 100% as we see them, lorewise.
Imagine if there was a WoW-styled game set in World War II, where the battles were raids... They would have to be adapted to an MMO format. In Warcraft, it's like that: battles happened, but their format had to be adapted to fit the game.
Lorewise, you might imagine that bosses fought together, and that there were full armies, not only a group of raiders.

It fades when Krosus is breathing Fel onto him, then he screams and falls (while on fire) into the same pool of Fel that Krosus was wading in. He is taken by the demons and rescued by the Argent Dawn and the PC just in time to have him bequeath the Ashbringer to the PC and then he dies. Raising his corpse as a Rider is an objective of the Death Knight Order Hall campaign later on.

I'd like to imagine that if we leave him alone he will break into Elisandes room the moment we kill her and smack away her (unlooted) corpse. Maybe we will even see Gul'dan falling on the side because the whole spire collapses, lol.
Botanist would just hunt us down if we ever stepped on a plant. Tichondrius snapps because we ignore him, consequently attacking us already in an enraged state. Stardude sees us walking towards Elisande as he takes a break. Alluriel is skippable. Managing to do everything around the small well with her patrolling around it is enough.
The simplest solution would be Elisande just calling for help.
I wonder if it's because he is in front of the Tomb of Sargeras. We don't really know how we get there aside assuming it's flying but even then as demons inhabit the place... feels a little cheap to do it rather than using the once attached bridge and use magic like Jaina did in the beginning scenario to find Tirion.
