What the hell is going on with Blizzard's encounter design?

Skorpyron: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
Chronomatic anomaly: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
Trilliax: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
Aluriel: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
Tichondrius: add cluster$%!* in a square room
"High" Botanist: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
Elisande: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
    Gul'dan: add cluster$%!* in a circular room

    That's 8/10 bosses

Odyn: add cluster$%!* in a circular room
Helya: add cluster$%!* in a circular room with two adjacent circular platforms

    That's 2/3 bosses

Renferal: add cluster$%!* in 3 connected circular rooms
Dragons of the Nightmare: add cluster$%!* in a circular room (at least up until mythic)
Cenarius: add cluster$%!* in a square room (but hey they tried at least, didn't they?)
Xavius: add cluster$%!* in a circular room

That's 4/7 bosses. Il'gynoth excluded because adds were actually fitting for that fight, especially on mythic

In the past each tier always had a couple of bosses with unconventional mechanics. Construct on Socrethar, Oregorger maze, Tho'gar's trains, Iron Maiden ship, gunship fights in ICC and DS, vehicle fight in Ulduar, gauntlet runs in Ulduar and BWL etc., you get the idea. Did Blizzard hire interns to design T19?

Oh yeah, and almost every fight bar dragons mythic is a mongocleave for melee. What happened to engaging mechanics like the dance on Will of the Emperor?

Your use of words like "cluster$%!*" and "mongocleave" discredits you in many ways.

Furthermore; if you think the 1st 3 bosses in NH are add-cluster****s... then there's your issue; you might be playing them wrong.

I'm sympathetic to the OP's concerns, but:

You know during the Trilliax fight you're not supposed to actaully attack the cleaners? It is a single target fight (Except Mythic, which has 1 add for 30 seconds)

Just because you don't have to kill the adds doesn't mean that the fight isn't an add cluster$%!* in a circular room

they could also be non attackable entities going around. Wouldnt change the fight at all.
Also how is CA a clusterfuck? Its 1 (2 on M) adds every idk how long theyre apart. They dont spawn too often. On mythic it actually gives you the choice of how many doods you wanna send over to deal with the second one, its not as intresting as other mechanics, but its ok for a 2nd boss.

Youre just mad for no reason.

Trust me dude a splitting headache after a night of add cluster$%!*s in circular rooms in Nighthold mythic is a good enough reason to be mad

your definition of circular is pretty loose and trilliax has no adds. if you're dpsing the bots you're doing it wrong unless it increases your single target dps to the boss.

edit: and your definition of a room is also fairly loose. but if you really wanted to, you could summarize almost every single encounter in this game as a room or area with a boss and some adds.

    Right on the first one

the second one is not really right ,because its so huge that the room of the size doesent matter, also its not a circle its more of a squar with circles gone from the corners, and the middle, and tiny bit from the middle sides, so allmost like a weird throwing star? add clusterfuck? there is only adds once in awhile.

adds? what? you dont dps the adds, they could right out just be an ability, it being a mob just makes it easier so idk why its an "add cluster fuck"

Again aluriel is not in a circular room. and yes she has adds

omfg a square room? its allmost like there is only so many fucking shapes in the universe, what kind of room shape do you want? an octogon? oh wait there is but you still called it a circle
also its a rectangle not a square

yes this is a semi circuluar rom escept for the giant sqaure on the side.. .but ok whatever

again what does the shape of the room matter? lich king was just a circle with adds illidan was just a giant circle with adds, ragnaros was a giant circle will adds, chtun was a giant square with adds, btw later you use the example construct on soc (people hate vehicles in raids, and holy shit that fight was just an add clusterfuck in a square room) also thogars trains wtf? dude that is legit just a sqaure room with areas that act like aoes....

im not even go any further

    why?

because you have such a massive fucking bias, and its so fucking clear, calling fights like gunship on DS so imaginite when it was literally just a sqaure room with adds (as you critisize over and over in this thread)

lich king, giant circle room cluster fuck add fight

mentioning iron maidens ship as being a cool idea, (2 platforms, one of them having adds) but then call renferals map stupid (3 platforms with adds)
stop trying to make it seem like blizzard was so good back then and fights were so interesting and cool, and now they are all just the same, they have allways been either
fight with no adds, fight with adds
    a room of some shape

also yes i do agree i miss bosses like icc gunship, and flame leviathan, but alot of the hardcore raiders hated it, as it required learing new skills, new abilities, and not being based on your class, so thats why we dont see those anymore

The designers are pigeonholed into certain acceptable standards for fights while adding any object you have to click or use, vehicles, any type of puzzle etc doesn't fall into acceptable standards by the audience. So you see basically the same type of fights with little variation between them. I can think of some mechanics they have never even used yet but they aren't paying me to come up with raid boss design lol.

Instead of picking at the minor inconsistencies with the points of his argument, try actually discussing the main argument. There is nothing of interest in the entire Tier. Probably the most interesting fight is Il'gynoth and it also happens to be the one people tend to hate the most. There are some visually stimulating fights, but nothing along the lines of the encounter design of last expansion. OP is correct that there is nothing really inspired.

If you think word choice is a way to pick at someone's logic then you need a better pick.

I like the star augur fight and how the room changes throughout the fight. Other than that mechanically it's very simple. That one and krosus are my favorites.

Idk I've been liking the raid mechanics so far, and personally I hate when we have to use vehicles and shit.
Not really sure why the size/shape of the room matters to you, seems like you might just have had a rough night.

There happens to be a lot of circular rooms with bosses, that's true.

The Lich King fight actually had other things going for it except being an add cluster$%!* in a circular room. You had debuff management, the platform breaking and the Frostmourne room. The only notable thing about these new fights is that they are add cluster$%!* in circular rooms.

Yeah, mechanics are lacking and the bosses are quite dull and generic. I like Helya and Guarm was ok, Il'gynoth was fun. Nighthold was really boring and Gul'dan was a joke.

    Raids nowdays.

Requiring to learn something new is bad thing for the game.
