It didn't go too well but imagine my surprise when my rating pops up at 2721 platinum. Here I thought having 8 losses would place me in wood league.
Same thing happened to me; went 2-8 and ended up at 2700. I think my mmr from season 1 helped keep me from going too low. The highest I hit was 67 and I finished the season at 64. I think your performance has something to do with where you place too, I ended up getting a bunch of golds in my losses so I think it evened out.

previous seasons does help put you into the rating you get. if you were 3500 last season, youll get put somewhere near there for the new season. even if you play terribly in the placements, youll still get put somewhere near there. might be lower or higher but still near what you were. personally i think this is stupid. once a season ends, the new season should start off completely new making the placements put you wherever it puts you depending on how well you played and not have anything to do with the previous season(s)

Yeah, previous season matters a lot, I've not heard of anyone placed with much greater than 150SR difference on their previous season.

    S4

7 wins, 3 losses (1 loss because someone quit because I said I can play zen better than mercy, I wouldn't mind but he was adamant he was going to play hanzo)

Each game bar 1 I played zenyatta and had gold or silver for every medal, the one game someone took zen I took dva, again, gold medals on damage, objective kills, kills and objective time

    My rating for that?

    1398

I'm so fucked off the previous seasons impact our rating, granted, in S1 I sucked donkey dick, for S2 I worked my ass off practicing, D.Va, hog, Zen and 76. S2 I had similar results to the above and placed in the 2.1k. I dropped to 1800 for the season. S3, again, practise, faced stomped on D.VA / 76, again all golds for everything but damage, think it was 6 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses (its in this post somewhere) got fucking placed at 1500, then dropped to 1300 because of plebs, worked my way to finish at 1700. It's so frustrating getting majority wins, most golds, higher than avg and getting shat on.

I wouldn't care as much, but I can promise you now if I go into a comp game, I'll get atleast one idiot who wants to play hanzo / WM / sombra or someone that causes arguments when something goes wrong or something.

Winning and losing have nothing to do with placement. You're probably best not playing flex in them and just playing any of your best heroes that you can make work. I lost 6 of mine and placed higher than I did last season off 8 wins. I think I played more Widow than DVa, proper matches are different.

2721 was a surprise but now I'm hovering around 2500 after massive losing streaks :P

Got placed at 2700 (finished S3 at 2870 or something) after 5 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw in placements. Fair enough I guess

Thankfully these days I just play, do my best to win and accept whatever happens to my rating, since otherwise I would've felt pretty bad about immediately dropping 80 rating in 2 matches where I had 4 gold medals (not that they necessarily mean much, but I felt like I contributed most of my team as well).

But eh, slowly climbing towards diamond again, somewhere in the 2800s now.

DPS in general seem to be completely oblivious to the rest of the team, especially healers. Phara's crying for healing whilst staying out of sight behind buildings, people in general screaming for heals when both healers died 8 seconds ago and are on their way back, people who don't protect their healers and don't even notice them dying then cry for healing. And this is in Diamond-Master competitive. (Rare, but still happens.)

seriously... i main as mercy and the rare match where the enemy phara is destroying and the enemy has 2-3 people hard targeting me and hearing that brain dead dps on my team saying stuff like "you gotta stop dying mercy... learn to fly around..." makes me want to just leave the match for how stupid they sound.

I've noticed that nearly 100% of the time when healers complain that they are not protected, they never actually bothered to say in voice that they need help. They just start whining AFTER they are dead.

I never complain in-game but I don't want to hear them complaining about no healing when they weren't looking after me in the first place. I main Mercy and they can see my fucking health bar on their screen dropping, and still don't react.

Are you fucking kidding me, 2721 with two wins,
I don't know where you guys got wins and losses=placement, your performance is what decides this stuff, a roadhog with 5 kills isnt going to place as high as someone who gets 30 per match and still loses every match.
If you push a button that finds you a 'random group' and it gives you a random group of people with random skill and random knowledge then you have no right to complain that a 'random group' button did what it was designed to do. The fault lies in your inability to make friends to play with instead of relying on a button designed to be random. It is a 'random group' button, not a 'best of the best' button.

S2 - I learned that getting 4 golds on roadhog doesn't mean shit. But I can assure you, it wasn't 5 kills.
S3 - Pushed upwards 40kills, always 25k upwards damage regardless if it was 76 or D.VA.I believe my top damage was 54k on 76
S4 - Zen, I've been on the board every placement game for defensive kill / assists, the lowest I had was 21% and the highest 60%.

I know full well performance = ranking, but it's also you win ratio as well you previous season rating, Which as I said above, has been fucking me over since S1

So today ended up sucking. First match was actually really good, Oasis round 1 we lost but everyone got on voice and someone was calling targets so steamrolled the next 3 rounds. Second went not so well, shouldn't have caved to the 'switch off Widow' because immediately when I did Pharah, Bastion and Roadhog became scary; switched back and got the payload a few more meters, but wasn't enough as we dropped off too far on the last checkpoint having pushed them to OT on Point A and first check. Was close but not enough. Next two were just bad, Volskaya our teams attack was basically soloed by Symmetra while I fought 2v5 on the point, then next we got steamrolled off Kings Row A because our tank started our defence after a poor attack by jumping around with his back to them. Other tank decided to blame me, not sure what more I was supposed to do on my own on point. Stopped there and went QP, was just as bad, lost about 6 in a row there too.

Should have stopped after Volskaya. Oh well. 5 stars under my portrait now.

Yeah, same experience today. Played 3 games comp, lost all 3. Taking a day or 2 break to recup from it. Should have stopped after the 1st game since it was extremely toxic and I listened to everyone on the team yell at each other. I possibly made a mistake on Lucio against a Reaper Ult as the player used DIEDIEDIE in the middle of the group and I booped him away from me. Got put down by a Genji player because he was deflecting it on the 1st time, even though I saved 3 team members from dieing to it instead of 5 or 6 of us. Same thing happened later in the same match and I booped him again into 3 members of the team just to have the other 3 get picked off by Reapers team a few seconds later. Got flamed by the 3 that died after that because I didn't boop Reaper away from everyone, even though we were pretty much in a circle pattern and everyone was going to die. Keeping in mind we had a Hog who could have hooked him out of Ult, Zarya to throw some bubbles around, and a Mercy with rez who felt they just had to stay clumped with the group full time, it's solely my fault Reaper killed 3 of our team instead of everyone. I even apologized and lied saying it was a panic knockback just to diffuse the situation, but went downhill from there.
Next 2 matches were equally toxic and dealt with the dreaded "refuse to switch" team, where our tanks (Hog and Winston) were dieing left and right to Reaper while Pharah continued to pick off our Ana. Just a sloppy day in general.

Sitting on 57 lootboxes, at first my goal was 30, then 50, now that I'm over 50 I may as well wait til 100. Slowly clawing my way back out of basement ranks after plummeting so far from almost having Diamond. Started playing whatever I wanted and not caring. It doesn't make people very happy, but whatever. It's fun.

After having success playing comp during monday-friday around 10am-2pm, i just dont do comp on weekends because its night and day for me compared to the weekday late morning/early afternoon times. i didnt always win but i saw very few ragers and troll players and managed to climb up to diamond. the weekend is just plain awful imo.

It actually went pretty well Saturday, got a new career high at 2150ish. Think it was similar last weekend; good Saturday, less good Sunday. Wednesdays are weirdly bad too. Tuesdays and Thursdays seem the best.

After I always waited for people to pick heros so I fill the Heroes needed and stuck at 2700 I did a Tracer Only Week and got to master. >.<

Now I can finally wait for season end for golden Tracer Gun ♡.♡.

Your previous season rank is what decides this stuff. Everything else has just a tiny effect on it.
