Can we have a pizza thread instead?
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.

I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

You're right, your post is dumb and you should feel dumb for posting it. This entire thread is a joke based on false and misleading information.

Trump's administration is such a trainwreck. People got all wrapped up in his cult of personality and his low-level "he's just like us!" manner of speech, and now everyone's slowly coming around to the fact that he's the brash, inarticulate monkey that he sounded like.

Unless Trump does some massive backflips (or voter turnout stinks) he's a 4-year president for sure. Hopefully this'll be a sobering exercise regarding the pitfalls of populism in general, too.

    For fucks sake no.

    "Hundreds of Millions of dollars".

HA. HA HA. HA HA HA... HA!

SO let me explain what you're seeing. In 2014 the Federal Government spent $505 billion on Medicare. In 2015, it spent $540 billion. It added $35 billion in new spending. In $2016, $591 billion. An increase of $86 billion in just two years.

That's like adding four and a half NASA's to the budget in just two years.

And you're worried about Hundreds of Millions of dollars? I'll say it again. HA. HA HA. HA HA HA... HA!

There is no such thing as a serious discussion about government spend and the debt that doesn't begin with Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Legitimately, nothing else matters and it's all a distraction.

But what won't Trump touch? Medicare and Social Security.

What is it with non-americans using the American definitions of 'left wing' on these forums?

Not like this is a worthwhile topic that has not been discussed a dozen times before here, so I might as well ask a this in this thread.

Yeah...I too had a chuckle at that...

We gave out $16 trillion to bail out banks and businesses...and someone's concerned about what amounts to less than a drop in a bucket?

People who think that have not understood that such systems have a lag - same as computer games. However the time until a new policy starts to reflect on your numbers in reality can vary between weeks to month to years.
So its much more likely that something obama did and trump did not yet revoke is responsible for this.

Not stating it as a fact but a possiblity.

Anyone who does not doubt trump is responsible or obama is responsible lacks critical thinking skills.
I was thinking this, he couldn't make a decision and expect billion dollar results the next day.

No, bullshit posts are going to get attacked big time. The OP is a perfect example of that.

If that isn't the case then tell me exactly what bills congress has written and Trump has signed into law that have brought about this change in the national debt?

What changed from Trump being a horrible choice before the election and you defending lies about him after?

The worst part about @Ghostpanther, is that before the election he claimed that he would be voting for Trump, despite him being a horrible choice, just because he is GOP. As soon as Trump wins, he no longer even acknowledges the fact that he agreed that Trump was a horrible choice, to blindly and even counter to his own earlier points, bitches about the reaction Trump gets. At no point does he remember that he was, at least in his word, seeing the same horrible Trump, that he now blames on just a negative reaction Trump would inevitably get. Just a couple of months ago, he was able to acknowledge the same issues with Trump, he now pretends don't exist...

Are you able to borrow more, as your debt increases? Can you tell me the difference between personal and federal debt?

inb4 'b-b-but muh GFC', people forget what happened during that time or too young to have known at the time.
What did he do to shave money from dept? Especially since he's hasn't even signed a budget yet.

I can, but without you telling me the difference, I don't know where to start. For example, the first question I asked, is pretty much the same one you just did. If you answered it, I'd know where to start. At this point, I don't believe you know the difference and me linking a wiki page on basics of debt, you'd probably treat like flaming... so, where do I go from here? Treat you like you know nothing, so you go on a tirade of how you are getting flamed? Have a discussion with you, where I assume your level of understanding, to just go in circles because I'd assume too much?

What kind of school did you go to that taught you that debt was bad? Without debt, the entire global economy would collapse and nothing would ever get done. That doesn't mean you should borrow irresponsibly and never pay it back, like our fine President has done so often in the past.
