    What's wrong with asking questions?
Do you have proof the waiter said that? Nope

My statement was directed at the suggested notion that waiters shouldn't communicate with guests at all. I'm sorry you were unable to process that

Being California , preeeetttyyy good chance one of the dishwashers or bussers may have a problem with that requirement.
This is part of the reason why I think someone took a misunderstanding and is trying to make it about being an illegal immigrant. The kitchen staff and even the bartender at the place are almost all Mexican.

That's not what happened. They asked for proof of residency. That's a hell of a lot different than asking where you're from.

I already said that was wrong, but I also don't Believe it happened. However people in this thread have said that a waiter isn't supposed to communicate at all.

Seems to me if they got fired over it then that probably is what happened. It's really not all that unbelievable. What reason would these people have to lie about what the waiter said?

  6. #186
The waiter was a major douchebag, the waiter got fired for being a major douchebag. Problem solved.

waiter screwed up got fired end of story, restaurant did the right thing. but this "I’ve never felt so judged in my life…. It sends a chill through your entire body.” seriously? if being asked for proof of citizenship sends chills through your body you have lead a sheltered life XD

Truly spoken like someone who has never been singled out because of the color of their skin

To answer ur question, Yes they was legal.
He has every right to ask that question, just like his employer has every right to fire his ass for doing so.

If we're going to be making threads over every little douchbaggery this forum will soon be flooded and people will miss Trump post.

Most likely they were trying to take advantage of a discount for locals. He asked for proof of residency within a certain city or ZIP code. They got caught cheating the system and SJWs did the rest.

I'm all against illegal immigration, but I don't think asking for that is a part of a waiter's job in any ways... although I can understand asking for ID's if they behave somehow suspiciously (giving a reason to believe they might leave without paying or something, or bearing an unfortunate resemblance to a known criminal), or look too young to order alcohol, etc..

What world do you live in? Outside of Vegas that isn't really a thing.

Last I checked the people crossing the border didn't speak English and the majority of the Hispanic population in america wants amnesty. Doesn't make what the waiter did right, but I can see how it happens
You only had to read the 1st post to see that they were in the coutry legally.

"Carrillo, 52, came to the United States from Mexico more than 30 years ago. She’s been a citizen for nearly two decades, juggling two jobs while raising her four daughters alone."

Is Huntington Beach a tourist town, or something? Where did that "discount for locals" thing even come from?

A lot of these "illegals" also work a hell of a lot harder than all the "legals" people are fucked in the head.

I have to agree, what one private person that was part of one private business did one time isn't a huge deal. Now, if it happens a lot, like the massive spike in anti-Semeitic bomb threats, or represents the public at large, like Trump's plummeting poll numbers, it's a bigger deal.

they still need to be boycotted, and if yelp isnt willing to make sure it happens they fail the users of the service since how the restaurant treats its customers is a key issue a consumer needs to know

It is a tourist town (beautiful south facing beach outside of L.A.. It also hosts the World Surfing Championships). But it doesn't really face the same issues as those in Vegas. Vegas does it because the locals are fairly poor and without it they wouldn't eat out. Plus there is a huge push just to get them in your casino, which is why many tourists even get free meals at some of these places. In Huntington Beach, the locals are richer than most of the tourists. A discount doesn't make sense.

A, No they don't, since they fired the guy.
B, Even if they didn't, No they don't - They are Illegal immigrants, not legal one's.
And C, None of this matters in the slightest, because its a restaurant - the quality and price of the food is what matters, nothing else.
