Didn't see anything in the article where the students rioting were complaining about privilege. I realize you believe that "college liberals" are all one giant single entity, so you can try and pin imagined hypocrisy when it suits you. But if I missed something and one of the protesters mentioned something about privilege, someone who has it and wants to address it is far better than a stump sitter.

Of course I'm not even sure if you're going to read or even respond to this post. You seem to have been ignoring people that can prove you to be a liar, a hypocrite, and just in general knock you off your high horse every time you get on it.

Charles Murray has such titillating ideas that he lectures on, such as the idea that it is not the station of your parents or your upbringing that determines your station in life, but rather your own intelligence, and that there is inherent "racial intelligence". Such stimulating and original ideas, I must say.

There are pretty compelling examples of people in this very thread, where intelligence didn't mean jack shit, as the person was SEVERELY lacking in it, and is still quite well off thanks almost entirely to their parents.

What I see isn't really empathy though. What I see is an attempt to exorcise guilt.

They feel guilty for being privileged in some way, and thus wish to invent others who are more privileged then themselves, even if its ludicrous that a black son of a millionaire train magnate is somehow crushed by oppression compared to say a white person in Appalachia.

Murray being the guy the students were protesting.

Claiming this idea is TRUE is a complete affirmation of white privilege.

It's not of course, but it seems weird that privilege became the topic of conversation (actually, given the participants, I guess it's not) when it comes to Murray, who's one of the primary fathers of "Whites are just inherently superior to blacks because genetics," "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and stop being lazy," and the ever so popular one, "Welfare for the poor only hurts them and keeps them in poverty (but welfare for business and corporations is totally cool and doesn't encourage them to keep gambling with other people's money)."
