Why does a high school have a dedicated anatomy teacher? High schools only teach very elementary anatomy that any biology teacher can do.

At no point in the article did it say she had any form of intercourse with the student. What it does say is this:

Police discovered that a 17-year-old student had been in contact in person and through messages with Fowlkes, they said.

Police allege she engaged in “sexual content with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of the student.”

As I read it, the accusation is that she sent him lewd images or suggestive messages with an intent to get a sexual response out of him. Given that she is an anatomy teacher, it is entirely conceivable that whatever communication she sent him is covered under the subject matter and was entirely academic in nature.

This could just be a case of a conservative religious person overreacting to a lesson on anatomy....


But yeah whatever. Let's all start jumping up and down about double standards and how terrible women are to poor victimised males (because that suits a specific narrative) rather than try to establish some actual facts.

The state has no business making that decision for an adult. If there was duress used in the relationship, that's already a crime which the victim can bring to the authorities.

The law is there to protect the kids that can't protect themselves. That means the ones that can't go to the authorities (be that fear, coercion or just being convinced by an older person in power that they shouldn't).

A 17 year old isn't a kid in any meaningful sense though. At that most people in my class had had sex several times already, some in the 100s of times.
