Honestly, It might have been his plan all along. The ACA isnt perfect, but its getting people insurance they would not have had it otherwise. He knows he couldn't achieve that. Remember, he didn't know "how complicated healthcare is", so when he found out he probably shit himself.

The problem with your theory is this is not his plan. He didn't write it. You can blame Paul Ryan for this garbage. Trump is simply backing it. The same thing Obama did.
You would think democrats would be cheering at the idea their ACA plan will be staying. But they are not. They know the ACA is not working.

Don't get me wrong, I think Obamacare is terrible but what are the current alternatives? Trumps plan would provide care for less at an increased cost and going back to the old way would be even worse. Single payer is obviously the best way to deal with healthcare but good luck selling anything socialist to the US.

You cannot threaten the government body, you just cannot. That puts the entire congress in a bad position.
If they abide, they're exposed as cowards. If they don't it exposes the rift between congress and the president.
Now a rift between congress and president isn't that unusual, but it certainly is when the president is from the party that holds the congress majority.

Of course you can defend it.
It is not a terrible legislation, it just developed some flaws. Those flaws need to be taken care of.

The only thing to replace it with would be a single payer or single payer hybrid. Like every other modern nation has.
But I guess, Republicans would rather let XX million people die, because of profit gains for healthcare providers and insurers, than doing the right thing.
Some Flaws? My Premiums went up 1000%. You can't defend this.

Got any proof? Cause on the one hand we have a lot of independent studies and reports, and on the other hand we have one guy on an anonymous forum making outrageous claims.

It is working, but due to the language of the law, rural and conservative areas that didn't vote for state medicaid expansion won't have any choices for health insurance, forcing rural hospitals to close. Maybe once the health insurance companies ask for a bailout due to all the sick and dying older people, we will have the chance to make medicaid for all and liquidate the industry.

Well, he's sticking true to his "autobiography", at least. Which is that he says you shouldn't "force" a deal because it makes you seem desperate. Instead, just walk away.

Guess we'll see if it ends up playing out to his benefit, or if it ends up bring a crippling blow to this legislative session right out of the gate.

Maybe this will be a good lesson to folks that running a business and running a government are two dramatically different things. Though why anyone would believe that malarkey to begin with is beyond me, it's patently ludicrous.

Yeah. You give him too much credit.

Already posted a few times. Now Trump can just bash it as "Failed Obamacare", instead of improving it. Again no governance by one party just being whiny little bitches.

This is a pretty smart move by Trump.
    1. He campaigns against Obamacare and promises he's got some great ideas on a replacement plan.
    2. Once in the White House, he makes it clear that if the replacement bill is a success, he will accept credit for it, but he wants nothing to do with it if its a failure.
    3. Shitty bill with no chance of passing in its current state gets released to the public.
    4. Trump knows most people won't read it (I did), so he claims, this is a good bill and delivers on what he promised while campaigning (it really doesn't).
    5. Trump forces a now or never vote to show he wants this to pass, but Paul Ryan is at fault if it doesn't. Don't blame Trump.
    6. Obamacare gets to stay which is what the GOP actually wants anyway. They need that boogeyman to campaign against again.
    7. In follow up interviews, Trump gets to claim that he really wanted to help the American people, but failure Paul Ryan couldn't get it done, so don't blame Trump. He has other things he wants to focus on now.

So actually, premiums have gone up less since Obamacare was passed.

Yea, letting it die out on its own might be Obamacare only option.

With people such as that person. Just fire back that you have free health care, plus you get $1 million check even year.

And that is a bad thing how LOL, Improve the current system. Don't burn it down and try to rebuild on top of the ashs.
I know, right? What the fuck is Trump playing at this point? Or is he just that bat-shit crazy that he can't think farther than five seconds ahead?

I'm assuming they're averaging people getting highly subsidized or free health-care with everyone else. That's not exactly indicative of the effects on people that are JUST successful enough to be out of the subsidy range. Those are the people getting hammered by Obamacare. It doesn't help that one couldn't have designed a better system to limit competition by not allowing people to purchase out of state plans.

I'm going to cross the aisle here and acknowledge that for most people Obamacare isn't a terrible bill for most people. I'd hope we can at least acknowledge that it's trash for some people, and that should be addressed.

It's suspicious to me that neither Obama or Trump care tries to seriously address the fucked up and opaque pricing model and other nonsense that's the real cause of the high cost. There are solutions other than trying to be Europe. We could just be America and go with Rand's plan. It seems to solve the primary issue by making healthcare accessible to the unemployed, and self-employed (especially those with pre-existing conditions) by allowing them to buy insurance as part of a non work related collective. That was the purpose of Obamacare as I understood it in 2008. (It was probably more about power and ideology, but I'll be generous.)

Subsidies are irrelevant, as they're still used to cover premium costs. I've seen no indication that "free" health care is factored into these numbers at all yet.

If you have information otherwise, I'd be interested in seeing it.
