Christianity is suppose to project tolerance and solidarity.
Socialism and thus left political ideas are based out of the concept of solidarity.

So i'm surprised as to that they exist, i am however surprised they are present in the US. Do have to say if i had a choice between evangelicals and those following the current pope, the current pope one every day of the week.

Well they are likely realizing electing a monster wasn't what Jesus wouldn't have done to fix a few beefs they had. Don't get me wrong the dems went WAY to far down the SJW path and it rubber banned against them but the snap back against Trump is happening further and faster than I have seen in my lifetime here in the states. Even hicks out in Texas where I live are getting sick of his shit and we are less than a 100 days in.

Sad thing is I think Trump is exactly what this nation needed for all the wrong reasons. His inability to control himself has exposed a lot of truths to people that were pretty much driven into hate by sly republican politicians. They have utter proven they are just big Washington with a different letter next to their names. Hell even members of the party itself have started to put it together.

Um, pretty much everything except WASPs have been either center or left leaning for a long time. It's mostly just WASPs who are trying to force their religion into legislation through right wing politics.

That's not really true. America is still a country of mostly christians and they exist on both wings. The difference is the left is more prone to want to keep religion out of politics and the right is more inclined to bring it in.

If by 'left' you mean acting like Jesus? Yeah.
Someone should link Supply Side Jesus.
Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.

    Considering:
Social justice being tied to catholicism for centuries
There's a socialist in the Vatican.
Catholicism is more popular christian faith among the growing Hispanic demographic.
The american left is docile, toothless, and boring.
The perception of dogmatism and PC culture.
    ...
They make for a perfect unsurprising match.

We're seeing multiple social-democratic parties go down across Europe. I think that's troubling. And I personally think it's in part due to them being increasingly aligned with corporate interest, rather than workers and middle class. But it's also giving room to more populist (rad or extremist if one prefers) left parties (think syriza).
Now, you guys will do whatevs on your country. But I think this "the left" thing should try to be more aggressive than ever, and burn churches again (metaphorically).

You are using a no true scottsman fallacy here in order to wave away my entire argument then you attacked that fallacy you built up. I am not one to point out people's fallacies but that is pretty shit, man.

I am okay with you stating that you disagree with my statement, but you believe that simply because you are ignorant to politics everybody else here is.
    See my footer.

But the bullfuckery that you are doing is the reason why the left lost this election. You brand anybody that don't want to label themselves as progressives as "not left" because you are such a massive fucking bigot that you can't even imagine that there are different ways to achieve equality than the methods being used by the regressive left, which is unfortunately the current face of Progressivism in the USA.
Everything you wrote here is gibberish.

Naw, its just once again an aspect of the left taking the mantel of moral superiority after removing the rights counter part. Nothing has changed in the abstract of humans who think they know better trying to force a behavioral pattern form other humans they dont even care about and in general think less of.

Huh. After reading so many articles about the religious right this sort of caught me off guard. I mean its not a shock that there is a political religious left. There are people with faith on both sides of the aisle. However, I hardly see it being a political "force".

Our biggest christian party is center right(Netherlands), same goes for Germany.
2nd biggest(only 8 seats) is on the conservative center left though.

But yes, they are a far cry away from the American Republicans, only our SGP(far right protestants) can compare, and thats only on social issues(although they do see climate change as an issue and don't deny it), they are not filled with the extremely rich and greedy folk you see in the repubs.

The American "religious right" grew out of the battles over racial segregation, which wasn't an experience broadly shared by other nations. People like Jerry Falwell made their bones as "religious leaders" by opening up segregated parochial schools in the aftermath of Brown v Board of Ed, and became politically activated on the national level when the IRS pulled the tax exempt status of said schools in the early 1970s. They only switched to hating on gay people and abortions as political causes when they lost the segregation fight.

Incidentally, the resulting confabulation of American religiosity with far-right reactionary politics was one of the biggest tragedies of American social life in the late 20th century; both for American politics (which arguably got nastier) and for American religious institutions because of the exodus of left-leaning people from their ranks.

I'm not a religious person now, though I was raised Catholic. It doesn't surprise me that there is a large left leaning religious group because most of the bible aligns with what's considered "left" ideas. You only ever hear about the religious right in this country and its usually because of the abortion issue. A lot more of the bible focuses on social welfare though. I don't think you hear much about the "religious left" because they are simply voting for things that are the right thing to do (feed the poor; care for your neighbors) and don't do it simply because "the bible told me so."
