So I just noticed this today, and I'm not sure if this is intended, but it certainly looks wrong.
My current post count (as of this post) is 1070. Yet when I look at my post areas, it appears to be almost double:
If I add those up, the total is 2,092 (roughly, I may have fat-fingered a button somewhere :P)

Do you know which ones? I assumed Gen-OT counted, and just that is 330~ higher than my count

Guild Recruitment, Fun Stuff and (I think) Chat Zone do not count towards post count. Our indexer is also a little delayed and may not reflect posts made within the last few hours. Deleted posts may also be reflected in your profile tab but not the spot alongside your posts.
That doesn't appear to be what is happening with your count, but mentioning it for the general information.
