Last year, I paid around 30,000 euros in taxes, including but not limited to, income taxes, housing taxes (tax because I own two appartments), automobile taxes (taxes because I own a car and a motorcycle), National Roads Taxes (Tax in order to be granted the right to use the country's Road System), and Additional National Roads Tolls (this works out to 6.42 Euros per 100 km of road used). I may be forgetting 2-3 more taxes.
All taxes described in my National Power Company Bill are "Extra taxes" because I am paying them monthly and so they are not included in the 30,000 euros mentioned above. There are also additional taxes paid for the Water Supply ("Water Bill"), additional taxes paid for the right to use a Telephone, additional Taxes for the right to use a Cellphone, and additional taxes for the right to use the Internet. All this works out to a few thousand euros additional taxes.
About 50% of the Greek people (including the Muslim illegal immigrants who stay here) have stopped paying taxes to the Govt years ago, and the Govt cannot compel them to pay.
