Dude, friends and family are always the biggest influence on music before maturing and expanding tastes in order to find individualism.

Jazz, blues, r'n'b and soul were yes, but rock'n roll which became rock all wouldn't be a thing if it wasnt for the previous, if it wasnt for those genres we white folk would still be playing lutes and harps right now :P

In America, the only genres that are "black" or "white" are regional or foreign subgenres. Modern music transcends racial and and genre barriers. No mainstream genre is without bleed in from others. No genre is racially homogeneous.

I hate generalizations and stereotypes when it comes to talking about music.

Black metal is pretty much 99.99999999% (ironically) white.

Oh of course I am not saying that. I am aware we have Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky to name a few but it was all classic music, maybe some opera (thank you Italy).

I am just saying that our pop and rock roots stem from blues, gospel and jazz which was black music!

Black metal is pretty mainstream, unless you only consider radio music mainstream. In that case, only 4 of the thousands of music genres would fit in there.
