Exclamation Lose-Lose situation for President Trump on North Korea :(

Wouldn't wanna be in his shoes right now. If he takes any kind of military action, a lot of people are gonna perish-South Koreans, North Koreans, Japanese? members of our military. However, if he does NOT take any military action, this mad man in N Korea is gonna continue trying to develop ICBMs that one day will hit California or further mainland into the USA. Both situations are so fucking scary, bros. Good luck POTUS.

Or he could try third option: leaving NK alone. They are doing all that shit only because US threatens them. But that won't fly with brainwashed americans who think they have right to tell others how to live.

He has already accomplished a lot more with N. Korea than any previous administration. China was the key. Plus a show of force.

His US approval ratings are going up. That what matters here.

The leaders of North Korea would have to be even more incompetent than Trump to even consider a direct attack on...anyone. Much less mainland USA. North Korea is left alone because it's meaningless, and hurts no one but its own people. If they actually act on all their bluster, it would do nothing but end badly for them.

Best Korea hates South Korea about as much as they hate US. They won't stop doing what they are doing simply because US leaves. No way in hell.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. N. Korea is not a fight I would have picked as President. The fact that he got China on board is a huge accomplishment. I know he won't get credit for it, but foreign policy-wise, he is making Obama look terrible now.

Think about it, in just a few months, Trump:

    1) Took care of Obama's "waffling" on his little red line.

    2) Got China on board to help with N. Korea. Something Obama completely failed to do.

China is the key, you can't make a move in N. Korea (and nothing will get accomplished there) without the Chinese on board. I don't believe China would be on board without the show of force. The "show" is very important in Chinese culture.

Personally, I don't support our little "conflicts." I don't think they accomplish anything, they are costly and a waste of energy. That being said, we are there and involved already- so we can't just completely pull out and abandon our posts.

Also, I am not sure everybody wants to wait around until N Korea develops better weapons. Which they are making no secret of trying to build.

    Agreed.

Here is N. Korea's problem- their people are starving and they need help. They can not ask for it, as Kim Jong will lose major "face" if he has to go "begging" for help from the very world powers he criticized for many years. Not only that, but he regularly tells his people how much better N. Korea is than all these countries. How would it look if he had to go to them for help?

    So what does he do?

He does all this military posturing, hoping the world will give him aid just to shut him up.

It then becomes a win - win for him. He saves "face" and gets the aid he needs. He can tell his people that the world was scared of the mighty N. K. and capitulated.

Only problem is that he is playing with nuclear weapons. You can't "play" with nuclear weapons, they are too dangerous. Which is why he has to be stopped.

It's sad because it seems like a situation that can be easily remedied if cooler heads prevailed, but it won't due to the mega egos involved.

What exactly did he accomplish? They've launched more missiles in his time than any other president. And do not act like failed attempts don't count. Failing to shoot someone will still land you in jail.

Of course its a lose lose situation.
If it wasn't it would have been resolved by now.

The interests of North Korea is fundamentally misaligned with South Korea and the US.
This has nothing to do with 'ego'.

Does a president's approval rating ever go down when he does any military dick waving?

    Only if they are losing.

Trump and President Xi of China are besties now. China moved 150,000 Chinese troops to its North Korean border, probably to block black market smugglers which are a big source of income for the NK regime. And China has stopped importing NK coal another big source of NK income.

Times are a changing for NK.

Don't worry about it. Trump isn't. The rest of the world is worrying about Russia and NK and Trump's just bitching about "paid protestors" in the same breath as insisting the election is over, again.

Of course China getting involved has everything to do with Donald's expert diplomacy and nothing to do with NK having a viable missile that puts all of China in range of a nuclear strike .

Current ratings are around 40% and that's still a historical low.

A cooperating assistance from China in dealing with N. Korea and some of the people in Afghanistan and even in Syria approve of his actions. Even Congress as a whole are in agreement. Sometimes the use of and show of force is necessary to maintain peace.

They are actually a little higher than that now on average. ( 38 - 48% depending on the poll ) Which overall shows a slight upswing in it from what they were a month ago.

You mean he made North Korea stronger and more unpredictable, and more likely to nuke South Korea and Japan. The show of force has emboldened other countries against us, made it quite clear to them that we view them as complete enemies that matter exactly zero to us, and given them huge incentives to do their trading without us rather than with us. The damage that Trump is doing to the US is YUUUUUGE. Both China and Russia have been put on notice that we are itching to go to war with them, and they are both preparing appropriately.
