Demon Hunters don't give up much compared to Death Knights. Demon Hunters can still enjoy food, sex, and even enjoy a bit of immortality. Sure they have the demon inside them constantly fighting for control, but the Death Knights also have their own curse, the will of the Lich King forcing them to seek carnage or face magical torture from within. A Demon Hunter isn't forced to fight others to control their demon, they can always hang up their glaives and seek inner peace and control.

Death Knights exist in a constant state of pain and hunger. Being healed by the light is incredibly painful to them. They were raised from the dead after having given their life fighting the scourge, were forced to commit unspeakable atrocities in the scourge's name, then broke free and turned their original motivations of revenge into one of preserving the world.

Everyone keeps describing DKs as "chaotic evil" or somesuch... which really doesn't make any sense. The Ebon Blade has no ambitions to take over the world or increase their power as a stand alone faction. Everything they've done is to fight some greater evil for Azeroth's protection, whether that be the Lich king or the Legion. In essence, "we do what the living cannot."

Death Knights didn't just sacrifice something once, they exist in a state of sacrifice. They don't angst themselves to death like some undead. (Sylvanas, *cough*) Death knights keep on keepin' on.

And what did DHs do? Rip their eyes out? Oh boo frikkin' hoo. Hell, there's a Death Knight in ICC that did that same thing. And then DHs go around and mouth off about "I'VE SACRIFICED EVERYTHING..." and "NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE LEGION'S DESTRUCTION!"

And you know what DKs say? "Tomorrow is another day..."

Unless the demon is in control of course

Demon Hunters willingly gave up their lives in order to become infused with the fel energy in order to be what they are. That's a choice. They made a sacrifice.

Death Knights weren't given a choice. They sacrificed nothing, they were just dealt a shitty hand.

They chose to fight, didn't they? They accepted the responsibilities of a soldier in life, they accepted whatever may happen in the line of duty, be it injury, death, or worse.

Death Knights ride a fine line between chaotic neutral and lawful evil, doing absolutely everything in their power to destroy the greater evil. I agree with you generally though. I think now more than ever, considering that it's possible the Ebon Blade is back under the Lich King's control, that we're falling more into the evil camp.

A soldier in this case accepts the fact they may die. But being revived into Undeath is an entirely different matter. Many if they could fresee it would rather be alive and not Undead.

Choosing to fight isn't a sacrifice, if so then they'd still have sacfrificed less than the demon hunters. Because they did that and more

The knights of the ebon blade are under the Deathlord's command, not the LK's. The LK almost comes off as more of an... advisor.

Regardless, over the course of Legion, it seemed the Ebon blade were getting pretty unhappy with Bolvar, especially when he ordered them to rez Fordring.

And even after having their free will, they continue to commit unspeakable atrocities in the name of a greater good. Demon Hunters sacrificed, Death Knights sacrifice so much more in the conflicts that arise, being the evil that ends evil. Demon Hunters made their sacrifice, and while they live with it every day, their loss is over, sacrifice is a thing of the past for the Illidari.

The absolute state of Warcraft lore in 2021:
Kyrians: We need to keep chucking people into the Maw because it's our job.
Also Kyrians: Why is the Maw growing stronger despite all our efforts?

It's dubious, maybe, maybe not. The Lich King is having us do some sketchy shit, and the Memories of Arthas suggest he's retaken the Ebon Blade under his control.

Yet demon hunters literally fight fire with fire. They themself are also being the evil to fight the evil. That's why so many on Azeroth hate them

Does nobody remember the DK intro? Check the bolded parts...

"A hero. That's what you once were. You stood boldly against the shadow, and purchased another dawn for the world... with your life. But the evil you fought is not so easily vanished, the victory you claimed... not so easily held. For now the specter of death looms above the world yet again, and it's found new champions to bring about its final reign. Knights of darkness, wielding runes of death and destruction, bound to the will of the Lich King. This is the hour of their ascension. This is the hour of your dark rebirth."

Besides the bolded parts, as people have said, DKs live in a constant state of pain, having to deal pain in order to not feel it themselves. The light healing them also brings them unbearable pain. They HAVE to injure others, against their will, to be in a state of well-being.

Darion also says it: "We know MUCH about sacrifice..."

Really sucks if they start to limit their vision for an expansion just to get the next one out faster.
BLOOD DPS. Never forget. Still campaigning to get you back, babe.

Well I mean the Demon Hunters raised this hell of a fuss against us when we were trying to stop the Legion in Outland, so I'd say that's another reason Azeroth isn't too keen on them.

Just admit Demon Hunters sacrificed more and you will be free of ridicule.

Demon Hunters cut their eyes out once.

Death Knights exist in a state of constant sacrifice.

Of course, though in that case they'd be ones who had sacrificed and not sacrifice

People went to Outland for Illidan, yet Illidan and the demon hunters fought the bigger picture, that we are doing first now

Demon hunters cut out their eyes and got infused with a demon and leave their home to fight for the world. They gave up the life they had. How does death knights sacrifice all the time? By using their magic?
