Just went onto wowhead with my adblock on. All the ads still get through and still play sound the second they load. If there was another site I'd use it because fuck them and their ads. Everything takes ages to load there now and if you leave the page open it'll kill your browser.

Try ublock origin. It kills wowheads adds.

I white-listed this site, just for shits and giggles to see how many adds would show up, and I see none....
I too got adblock because of intrusive adds, but they may have addressed it?
Using Chrome, Win10 build 15063, and Trend Micro. TM might be blocking the adds... but last I checked, the version I have didn't iwell with Chrome

I'm wondering if people have ISP's that are injecting adds, or malware, I see literally nothing on this page, 0 adds, loads instantly.

On topic: I personally also use ad-block because of the intrusiveness of the ads here, but would turn it off if it was only occasional adds without sound and annoying flashiness.

Ads doing the same have been appearing for years, on this site and thousands of others.
You need to do something to change that, not us.

For all the criticisms of the curse (now twitch) client, it is now ad-free and performing at least from my experience better than it ever did in its last version even as just an addon client.

Ads do drag down the performance.
There is a world of difference in responsiveness between default and with ads turned off.

WoWhead is the absolute fucking worst. It was the reason why I got adblocker in the first place. MMO-Champion is a close runner-up when it comes to intrusive annoying adds. Yet here they are saying "they strive not to interrupt our visit with intrusive ads". When it's one of the reasons I got it in the first place. The day websites keep intrusive ads off their sites is the day that I will turn off adblocker.

Ya wowhead is a fucking nightmare, I only go there when absolutely necessary. Thankfully that's maybe once every 2 weeks.

You are def making shit up. Your picture is how i see the site with ublock. As soon as i disable it theres a fat animated banner on top and to the left, why would they ask us to enable ads, if as your picture show, there is no ads. Good try, keep cheerleading.
