Our higher education institutions are just fine. It's the research part where we lag.

If the institutions are fine, then the problem is with the people?

At this point I think you get the idea, that list is shit.

Two and a half decades of no balanced budgets and frivolous forays in the middle East, have cost our nation a few drops in credit rating, trillions of dollars, lost faith in our dollar as reserve currency, and ruined our domestic freedom.

A good portion of our education system is used to teach foreigners who then take their education home with them.

Research will always lag since it's profit-driven.

The US does not have millions of people who are starving. It may have millions who are malnourished, but that's a very different thing. A bad diet leading to obesity would count as malnutrition.

A country built on money, dies by money. We pledge allegiance not to a flag, but to our money.

Not starving but food insecure. We're in a country were the food is mostly automated and we throw nearly half of our food away. Yet, 42 million wonder where their next meal might come from. There's something very wrong here.

It's not really surprising when the country is run by corporations and corruption and bribery of politicians is 100% legal. America is a plutocracy, not a democracy and we know longer deserve to be considered part of the western world.

Nothing will change unless the rich can make money off of it. There's no money to be made in feeding poor people.

I look around at some of the infrastructure in my city and it is pathetic. I was recently in Cali, SF and drove to the Golden gate. It was disgusting..... I can't even believe the residents over there are accepting that from their local government....... They need to run the mayor of that city out of town- it was totally unacceptable.

Yet, every year- we read, the government is collecting record taxes.

I believe our overall infrastructure was recently rated "D" by an international committee (for the country).

Our education is 40- something in the world (maybe even worst).

We are trillions in debt to China and yet, we collect record taxes each year.

How much more proof do you people need to stop voting for the Dems and Pubs.

They are doing a terrible job, both parties.

We need to find a way to replace them- they care nothing about us or the country- they only care about their own power.

If you don't believe me- look how they cry when they are not in office! As if it was somehow their "right" to be there. Serving is supposed to be a "privledge" not a "right" or "expectation."

They have become spoiled and drunk on their own little power trip, they are running this country into the ground and everyone who votes for them is complicit.
They're not going down without a revolution sadly. The government is too far gone, it can't be saved by voting. The US has already been downgraded to a "flawed democracy". I expect it to enter the "hybrid regime" phase within 20 years max. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index

To be honest their compliance isn't really a factor. The job market is just barely floating right now for the US. More people will demand $15 minimum wage while more companies will be using loop holes to hire more foreign labor. Meanwhile automation will slowly replace workers and we're going to have a recession.

This is where basic income comes into play. Socialism is considered communism in America, cause we're fucking stupid, but after Trump the next president will be a socialist. Bernie almost won and he's a Jewish old man. I don't know if Trump will serve two terms, cause trying to predict a large group of stupid people is very hard for me. Regardless, after Trump we're going to have a president that'll push for social programs. Doesn't mean we automatically get basic income, in fact I believe when brought to vote it'll be turned down unanimously. But a few thousand angry violent protesters will quickly change their minds.

This is not the 1920's where a recession meant letting people die with no food or home. People will organize and fight back, we just haven't reached anywhere near that point yet.

I don't share your optimism. I think things are going to get a LOT worse before they get better. Like food riots in the streets worse.

Yeah, I don't think anything short of revolution is going to get power back in the hands of the people.

There is not going to be a revolution, that shit is likely to happen under authoritarian governments like the one they have in Russia.
