Sure, the french never heard about a former economy minister, the one that implemented the "Macron Law" against Hollande's wishes.

He was a cabinet member under Hollande, and he'd already made a name for himself while also being rich. If you actually looked at his platform, he's also far from being a left-wing dude even by American standards let alone French ones where he's downright libertarian in terms of economy and state.

You might want to follow your avatar's advice and deal with the fact that Le Pen not getting into power doesn't have anything to do with your personal Soros bogeyman. At least try to inform yourself.

Really makes me wonder what he was doing in the PS. Does not seem to fit his ideology at all.

I'm not sure he was a PS member? I don't pay too much attention to French politics outside of elections. I know cabinets in France tend to be more diverse in ideologies than those in Canada or the USA, and ministers can sometimes not toe the party line or even be from the President's party at all. I do know he clashed with Hollande, so he obviously wasn't a dyed in the wool socialist from the get-go. Also left-wing and right-wing don't mean quite the same thing in Europe as in North America.

Still, looking at his program it's pretty clear he is not left-wing, that's for sure. But he's also not an Gaullist or authoritarian, so maybe the PS was the one big party he could somewhat identify with, and he broke off as soon as he had the chance.

    not even close.

French people are pretty much like anyone in the western world, they appreciate and respect women and believe in equality and freedom.

Le Pen won't win because her ideology is far too extremist, her political and economical program is unsustainable in today's world. France is a small country, they can't play the isolationist/protectionist card, France need to embrace the world market and find its place in it.

Le Pen thinks it's still 1945.

http://www.politico.eu/article/emman...nomy-minister/ contains an interesting view of the man. While he might not be your typical leftwing economic ideas policy man. Could be he sees ways to enact what they want through different means. Or he's just a power hungry maniac.

I just started to follow the French election these couple of days because it seemed to be in the news a lot and i was curious.

Been reading / watching videos about Le Pen, in fact i just watched the Vox video about her in which they try to portray her as some sort of villain.

She sounds reasonable, whats so wrong with saying loving your country and preserve your history and values? Other than leaving the EU, I don't see a problem with her.

Don't like french laws / customs? Tuff shit, stay in your country then.

    Hope she wins.
