    French Presidential Election, Vol. 2

France’s Interior Ministry reports that participation is at 65.30 percent at 5pm Paris time. This is slightly lower than at the same time for the first round of voting.

Still much higher than U.S. voting participation.

    Anti-immigration socialist versus generic conservative?

What amazes me is that Europe in general isn't very anti-immigration at this point, how does the generic conservative with a straight face say 'our immigration/integration policy is good'? People wouldn't vote for the more extreme folks if the normal politicans started being reasonable, I think.

I assume you're wondering about Macron. He wants harder EU borders that get more control. So he's saying that there are issues just not that they are as simple as "brown people = bad".

Second turn always has less turnout, some people don't want to vote for their lesser of two evils.

Well that's good and he should win then.

Turnout at 5pm this year was 65.3%, the ministry said, down from 71.96% at the previous election in 2012, 75.1% in 2005 and 67.62% in 2002.

What kind of bullshit media have you been reading to think Europe is not against immigration or at the very best opposed to free immigration?

OT: My feed says that a news agency report a victory for Macron around the 62 to 64% of the votes, more info around 2 hours but unlikely to see her win as predicted.

Those are pretty good numbers compared to the abysmal turnout of the 2016 American Presidential Election. Also, Marcon is expected to win the voting today, from what I'm seeing while checking around in different sources. About what time (local time in France if you're so inclined, I can math out time zones) is the election officially called for one or the other?

As I don't believe any official numbers or even a full exit poll has been published I'd take any numbers as of yet with a grain of salt. But a 20% point gap two days before the vote (last ipsos published numbers) is a bit... difficult, and I believe that was with absentee and abstainers accounted for just not reported on.

Depends on what you consider good. In Sweden voting participation in our general elections at 70% is considered really bad. It's just that some countries have very high voter apathy/suppression (and combinations there off).

What socialist? And Le Pen is hardly a generic conservative.

That would be Fillion, or Bruma from here.

In 2 hours and 20 minutes is when the the last places will start to close down, so around that time you'll see concrete results.

Lower participation than last election, many stayed home, this is good news since Le Pen supporters won't stay home n opponents will assume Macro will win so will stay home..

I doubt Le Pen can win though, too much liberal brain-washing in France, they need more cultural enrichment before they wake up..

the establishment will probably cheat regardless with votes.

Chart seems a bit odd.. Hamon should be center-left, Melchenon should be left and Macron should be right wing.
