Will never sub again, thoroughly enjoying 3.3.5.

Where's the "I've taken up FFXIV and only have so much time to spare" option ?

We were just discussing last night with a friend (during a Palace of the Dead run, incidentally) why we both quit WoW when Legion came out. For me, it's because I had already started FFXIV during the pre-Legion content lull and felt too committed to it. Tried Legion a bit, got to 110 on two characters (rogue main and DH), but idk it started feeling... pointless ? I'm unashamedly a LFR Hero who abhors most content requiring extent coordination, so WoW started going downhill for me once they removed Justice/Valor and any sort of worthwhile reward to LFR (at least they brought back tier models for us plebs in Legion... woo !), and FFXIV precisely hits all these points for me. I just don't feel like bothering any more. But I'm still looking forward to upcoming lore, and I'm not excluding resubbing, so I voted Hard to say.

No I'm not resubbing ever. My friends are gone, I only enjoy a single facet of the game (mythic raiding) whereas I used to do much more than that, and I feel that the progression is very demanding time-wise for very little reward, thanks to so much RNG.

Done with WoW, and most likely MMOs in general. That might not stop me from solo playing some grindy MMOs as that's an entirely different experience, but there's no future for me with WoW anymore.

Not likely. It seems a bit far into the expansion to get into it. I'm also really not into the idea of renting games anymore, having something I can buy and play at my leisure is far more appealing. As a bonus I don't have to start over at the bottom if I don't play for a couple years.

It could happen I guess, I like what I see from the expansion, but I really doubt it.

I have to admit that I'll likely buy one last month when 7.3.5 or whatever the last patch is comes out so I can see the rest of the content but honestly I don't need to sub for 6-7 months until then. After that? Unlikely. As always, it's dependent on whether friends come back for 8.0. If so, I might sub for a couple of months then leave... but what I won't do is spend the better part of a year in the game again.
Eh, I'd rather just watch that crap on youtube for free. I don't feel any overwhelming compulsion to slog through WoW's time-vampire effect for it.

After player Hollow Knight, DOOM, and Darksouls 3, the thought of going back to WoW's relatively poor story and weak gameplay fills me with a feeling of fatigue and boredom. There are just better games with better story, better gameplay, and that cost less.

Blizzard just needs to step up their game and to stop relying on abusing player investment in loyalty. Go back to making high quality games instead of....whatever WoW is now.

The base game is now F2P. I'm not sure many people are aware of that. EVERYONE who says Legion's terrain is fine needs to go play GW2 and experience real jump puzzles.

very well said. nowadays wow has nothing in common with what a mmorpg is used to. never will get why blizzard totally kill this genre instead catering to the (ofc still existing) mmorpg crowd.

yes, we got it. gaming industry believe there is only 1 type of player left, that exists: the 30min player with the gimmeall mentality. nothing else. i have news for the gaming industry: there are still ppl born and became 12-17 years old last year, that want mmorpgs. that want deep stuff. that want dedicate to a game. and there are still older generations playing mmorpgs. surprise!

if you want make some stupid shit fuck diablo like sand box mmo game, do that, blizzard. but dont do it with a game you brought to us as mmorpg. wow was never designed or developed for that shit you do, blizzard, in the first place. nor you warned us that you change completely the genre, before we invested hours and hours. you sold us a mmorpg years ago. so stop betraying our hard invested characters, achievement points etc. by derailing wow into some totally another thing.

when i buy a mmorpg years ago, and i invested a lot as a loyal customer, i have the right to expect that at least the genre dont change, to what i commited. there is no more offensive way to piss on your customers, like a straight false promise. and exactly THIS is what wow becomes while blizzard is doing what they do since the last xpacs.

    so fu blizzard.

I just resubbed about 2 weeks ago. only took a break because I was gonna be playing Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect exclusively. Now that I am done with them, it's back to the addiction.

For myself, because I JUST let my time run out. I doubt I'll be here much longer until/if I come back to WoW.

Only there are not enough of those people to justify new MMORPG development. Niche MMOs exist (EvE Online being the prime example), but they do not generate near enough revenue and profit to be attractive to game studios.

WoW is not sandbox by any stretch of imagination. In fact, the lack of "sandboxiness" it's one of WoW's major problems.

    .
Which is why I'd wait until it's all in game, then blast through it. It's why I didn't re-up when time ran our a few days ago - I wait through the asinine weekly chapters of Broken shore for 6 more weeks... or do them all at once if I come back. Tomb? I'll do that on LFR. Same for whatever last raid is.

And I might NOT come back. But I'm sure has hell not playing WoW as it is over the summer.

We don't actually know that. There were plenty of us 6,8,10 years ago. Are the current crop of players really all that different or is WoW just not the game they'd play?

I find it hard to believe that there aren't a few million people who would play a good, persistent world RPG in the MMO style. I *do* think that the sub fee is a deterrent to a generation that's grown up with a ton of free/very cheap games to play, though. I've said this before but 12 months of WoW is the same cash as 3 AAA games and th at doesn't include any server xfer stuff or the price of the game.

artifacts ruined the game for me. i loved looting new weapons as a warrior and now i just hope for a fuckin new trinket which is boring as a cake with no icing
that and the abysmal pvp which is never balanced
i will not be back until class pvp is balanced (a warrior should be able to nuke a warlock but a mage should nuke a warrior) and artifacts are no more

I'll probably pop in via WoW Token later in the summer or around the launch of 7.3 I unlocked flying last month on a WoW Token but in all honestly the design of the game doesn't encourage me to stay for any longer than the WoW token provides. If I'm looking for long term commitment then I'll stick to private servers.

The biggest problem I have with the game nowadays is that I find it very uninspiring and not exciting. The stupid amount of difficulty levels, free artifacts for everyone and transmog have made it so that there is no longer an iconic piece of gear or reward to obtain. Bosses die upon clicking join queue and thus aren't very fulfilling to kill anymore. My best memories of the game as someone who started in early TBC are from WoTLK when normal raiding was puggable, transmog wasn't a thing, and gear was rewarding. My best memory of the game was winning the roll in Halls of Reflection to get the battered hilt of Quel'Delar. That moment was so exciting and amazing and sadly with the current direction of the game I will never create such a memory again in WoW.

    Hard to say.

I haven´t bought Legion, and won´t do so, until I am sure the devs have backed down on their Flight policy that they adopted for WoD and Legion.

In other words, until Flight is once again requires max level, (or at the VERY LEAST, the Pathfinder achievement is completable at launch), no more WoW for me.

  15. #135
Probably not, WoW just isn't good value for money for me anymore.

Of course there were plenty of us 10 years ago. We were also younger and has less RL/work commitments.
And yes, the current generation is *that* different. And if I might add, not just game-wise, but in the workplace, I see the difference every day as well.

Oh, maybe they would want to play it, but the time commitment is too huge for people past 30. And Legion went way overboard with the said time commitment, imho. Where people raided then logged, they now have to farm AP and do other stuff to get better items.

Depends on your country I suppose, but for me, is like 2-3 times what I pay every noon for a meal in my company's cafeteria.
(not that I have an active WoW sub atm, but that's for different reasons)
