Brexit is going to happen, that's pretty much set in stone at this point. They've invoked Art 50 and negotiations are about to begin for the separation, although it'll probably only get serious after their snap election with those in about a month. The UK might rejoin some day in the future, but for now that it's going to happen is a certainty unless Britain themselves changes their minds, which is very unlikely.

Britain already had more favourable terms with the EU than many other member states too.

Now they are attacking him for having no kids.
Rutte and Merkel being workaholics is also a bad thing now,

May, Merkel, Macron and Juncker holding a closed doors meeting would probably end up in a threesome and Juncker giggling in the corner totally smashed with a cognac bottle in his hand.

The UK is facing a "no deal" situation, since May and her people see themselves in a position, where they can play hardliner. I doubt much will change about that this year, they still have enough time for this gambling nonsense.

So I'm wondering about Macron wanting to remove the 35 hour work week in France. Do the French want to work more hours? Also, do they want to get paid less considering anything over 35 is overtime pay? Also something about removing your 2 hour lunch break.

The problem with this is that the EU is only going to get more integrated now. The majority of the general populace want that, let alone the fact that the notion is even more widespread among the politicians. I'm not sure what the polls are right now, but a few years ago, 47% of Europeans wanted an eventual federation. Things will definitely head in that general direction now, without anyone actually mentioning a federation, of course.

The point is that the EU will only get closer and closer to what Brits are inherently uncomfortable with. I just don't see them rejoining. I can only see them rejoining in the world where countries are consolidating into larger ones, but that will only start happening decades after Europe does it, maybe centuries. I.e., they may only want to do it when they see they'd end up remaining the most insignificant country in the world.

A few miles? I thought it was accross the fucking road, highlighting that Pakistan or at least part of the rulership over there were harbouring him.

Presumably this is just a bump in the road for all those who were predicting the demise of the EU. No doubt it'll be next year for sure!

In Europe, heads of government don't sign executive orders. I.e., he can't do that.

Migration as we understand it and as we talk about in todays politics isnt passing through, migration is settling down and demanding a group share their resources, most of which are the wealth of private citizens and their contributions to their societies. Not that you get a right to pass through. If you cant respect these boundaries you cant be trusted to not be an enemy and within a primitive society I would be better served to treat you as such. I can cloak that in pretty words and refer to the letters of the law, but deep down in its basic core that is what it comes down to.

In other words: Yes you are face deep in my berries and I dont like it one bit.

Actually the French president might be able to do that. He has more power than other presidents in Europe.

Le pen is a nutcase. The fact France voted against her doesn't mean the other guy would be heavily left leaning.

Macron is a liberal, Le Pen is not.

Pretty sure it's the same here in USA. Trump can try to build a wall, but it has to go through congress and then some. I'm just wondering what the consensus is in France over these proposed policies? People describe Macron as a Socialist, but he doesn't seem like one. Lepen though does seem like a Socialist, but is considered nearly alt-right. The only bat shit crazy thing I see wrong with Lepen is that she wants to remove France from the EU. Otherwise, she has some very Socialist like ideas. Unless I'm getting them mixed up?

    1) Lepen is also extremely rich.

    2) The xenophobia and neo Nazi theme of herself and her party might have something to do with it

I think it's time to accept that neither Trump nor the Brexit are necessarily a precedent for the rest of Europe, and that phenomena like those two are still the exception, not the rule.
I'd say it's more a problem specific to the Anglosphere, particularly where Murdoch has had decades to muddy the waters and erode trust in media and government.
