Will genetic modification allow us to create dragons?

I don't think there's necessarily problem with creating a dragon provided sufficient genetic manipulation technology develops. Fire breathing part itself wouldn't be impossible either as you could basically have an organ storing oil like substance and have some sort of sparking organ in mouth to do such effect. Obviously size will be limited if they were to fly. In that case can't really be too big.

Yeah the six limbed dragons are pretty unlikely as no vertebrae with six limbs has ever survived long out of the womb. A transgenic dragon of the future would probably have to either be bat-like or fully terrestrial.

you know the size of some of the dinosaurs ? they were the reasons ( in case of their fossils ) for rumors of dragons.

I think a more important question is: WHY would a dragon be created? I mean, outside of some eccentric billionaire who wanted it because it's cool, where's the demand? Dogs probably make better guard animals with no genetic manipulation required. Cats make better adorable-assholes and already exist. So where's the market?

I suppose it could be possible in the near future, with the way technological advances are going, but I don't really see it happening.

I imagine a unicorn would be relatively easy compared to anything that even remotely resembled a dragon. A horse with a horn and few goat-like features.

More of a far out concept that I discussed a little with @Theodarzna, but given our advancements like CRISPR-Cas9 and subsequent advances, I imagine it would be feasible for some company to cook up some transgenic beast that superficially resembles a specific mythological creature.

What do you think?

Dragons hate physics and physics hate dragons.

They were hollow bones, sinew and skin. A far cry from a dragon. They were they best shape for something that large to be able to fly and also be alive. Most of their body are their wings, because they couldnt fly otherwise.
