Destiny 2 Coming to Battle.net

No dedicated servers, potentially only 10 Hz tickrate, and they outsourced the pc port to a company that only makes nintendo DS games. Suffice to say my expectations are quite low.

sad but a quick google shows that saves / progress wont be shared cross platform, i knew it was a long shot but was hoping. means i'll be buying on Xbone and PC for sure then....

i would say likely not... if you want to play D1, you have time b4 D2 comes out.

I played PS3 D1 up until the first DLC, but I never finished the main story. I find it absolutely silly that they are just going to pick up in the middle of the story like this. It's going to turn away a lot of potential players. I see no reason at all they can't port the first one over as well.

Nah, it is a modern tripple A game.. those are all mediocre. Casualfied, consolified, simplified, dumbed down for the masses mediocre.

I don't think you can say that without having tried them all. Else it's just assumptions. And even if you have tried them all, it's subjective.

Well so far it doesnt have a great legacy, The last one promised the world but delivered a barren rock.

Still many people who play Destiny. I can't exactly say that I have in a long time. But still, we do not know how good or bad a game is until we have tried it our selves.

It might be worse, and it might be better than the first one. It does not matter if we have a bad impression of the first one; but it will affect our impression of it. It's also for the most part a subjective matter.

most game sequels don't come with the previous games though? It would be nice and its why i never got into fallout or mass effect, i never played the first few so pass on the current ones.

While everyone is still complaining about everything they can, I still can't find an answer to my question: Does anyone know if D2 will have access to all the content from D1? Because if not, picking up in the middle of the series going to be stupid.

does halo 3 have access to all of halo 2? does mass effect andromeda have access to mass effect 3? does diablo 3 have access to diablo 2?

its a pretty dumb question. its a new game. nothing from d2 other then the char design you made is coming over.

Far smaller companies, with much smaller populations for their games, have their own clients. Tera, Wildstar come to mind. The notion that Bungie, backed by Activision/Blizzard money can't afford the money or the time to make their own is laughable.

Activision has the money and the capacity to make their own client if they wanted to, but they don't, because a place like Blizzards app has as you said all the work already done. And they don't want to be involved with Steam, because that'd add an extra hand into the process that they can't control or manage.

I did not mean that I did not think they could afford it, but that it would be better for them to focus on the game development and testing instead of making something that already exists.

Blizzard isn't owned by Activision. Blizzard and Activision are the same company.

They can of course do as they please. I just see this as a breach of consistency and breaking their own words, by saying that the app is a platform for Blizzard games. So if they want to change that, they should go all out with it, and not be dishonest about it.

My gripe with this is that it's clearly against what Blizzard has always said, that Blizzard is Blizzard and that's all it's gonna be. I don't buy this corporate talk of "helping out". Bungie completely capable of doing it on their own.
Bungie is gonna handle everything except for log-ins, authentication and social functions. That's what makes this such meaningless "help".

Companies and people change over time and evolve. It would be odd if they stuck with the same opinions forever. You don't have to agree with me of course.. I have not really paid much attention to any previous comments on such things by Blizzard; So I don't know what they have said and have not said previously.

I do like the use of "cutting" corners here. I would rather look at it as hopefully less waste of time. They, as most other projects have likely do a deadline, and investors to please. That's just how it is. They need to make a profit, in order for their investors to get a return on their investment. And spending time, on making something they don't need to make, seems like a waste of time to me.

I "cut" corners often at work, as it makes us not need to develop functionality that already exists in a package or API somewhere. That would cost our customers more money than necessary, and would give us less time to work on other profitable projects as well.

I would have zero issue with them putting more Activision/Blizzard games on the app, at all. I welcome it. Competition to Steam is needed.

Well this is a really shitty move by Blizzard to be honest, the one true thing we could always trust in is the quality of the games provided on the battle net and now it's just reduced to been another EA Origin platform full of potentially awful games such as this rather low end PC port.
