    Oh somehow I missed this gem;

Thought the Tories were all about free markets? Seems like they're intent on making the UK as inhospitable to tech companies as possible.

Call me when they've hit the point when they'll go for the real life re-imagining of V for Vendetta. Your "new internet" better be able to handle the live stream of that.

She's a nationalist because Huffpost said so?

"Mrs. May also spoke of the necessity for multilateral-ism in stark contrast with the line pushed by the White House — which prefers bilateral-ism — over recent days. She cited the need to tackle “climate change” as one of the reasons to back globalist institutions."

Aaaaaaaaand she just lost the next election.

I distinctly remember when they started to plaster every public place with cameras and how they had quite the respectable majority for that. This is just an ongoing trend in my book. The Brexit was just one of the larger dominos that recently fell into place, setting up conservative controll freaks is the issue here, not that the last idiot in charge gambled on economic ruin and lost - probably because of an ad on a bus.

Most people really don't care tbh, older people will either just not care or see it as a good thing, middle aged people don't care or see it as a good thing. The only group of people that actually care about policies like this are younger people, who barely even bother to vote anyway

One thing I do not understand is why are people blaming this on Brexit when EU is forcing the exact same fucking thing with the Audio visual reform?

Seriously, you guys either live on a bubble or you just want to criticize the other side and pretend yours is perfect.

Well, as we've seen last year, the young will probably stay at home and sleep an hour longer on election day .

They think the EU keeps the UK from being global? Only tied to the EU and not to other markets outside of it?

Remind me again why this is still a flourishing industry and why the law can support something like this without invoking anti-competition laws? They can't.

The internet and papers are both choices - it's not like Microsoft and IE where it was literally the only option most people knew about because it was the default. People know about both the papers, and the internet. It's not the internet's fault that the papers aren't the way people want to have their news delivered.

Truth be told, I was indifferent to the EU voting. I had doubts on both sides and there was no reliable or unbiased source of information on what would happen either way. However, being told what I can or can not say when it is not hate speech is not something I will allow. I will gladly fight for the right for people to have free speech than stand by and watch them attempt to take it away while we are plunged into becoming a nation under rule with no room for innovation or the ability to speak freely.

We can all take a good guess at what type of porn it will be too.
How is this different than Microsoft and IE? Microsoft defeated its competitors and was essentially the only game in town.

In the old days, people were subjugated with fear. Now all we have to do is give them something scary and they subjugate themselves.

All the pro-Brexit politicians crawled back into their holes, they know it's going to be a shit-show and would rather be out of the public eye.

Nationalism coupled with an enemy and the thought of "us vs them" at work. Enjoy, it worked out SO well last time a European country gave in to this shit.

It's stuff like this that's where overall majorities in parliament annoy me. The ruling party taking votes based on any number of issues as a mandate for all of their policies. Normally that wouldn't necessarily be so bad, but you end up with whipped votes, where the views of constituents don't even matter if the party leadership has decided it's something they really want to do.

This strikes me as one of those times.

Thatcherites maybe, but even then that was never always the case. However the Thatcherites are not in charge of the party at the moment.

This is probably in response to the ransomware that impacted the NHS?

Parliamentary system is different right? She already has the votes in parliament to do this? Not like the US were each of the 450+ congressmen vote however they want, leadership be damned?
