And it should be noted, that WG Russia, WG EU, and WG US are more or less independet, don't communicate with each other, and everyone is doing their own shit. From what I have heard, WG (RU) is handing out claims and strikes far more frequently.

Is World of Tanks really that far removed from World of Warships? I play WoWs and they don't really have any p2w content on the premium shop, the way the game plays pretty much all ships can be blown out of the water instantly for a mistake, so what's the difference between the 2 games that makes p2w a thing on WoT? Is it just a lower skill cap game that a better tank makes that much of a difference?

Not to mention premium consumables in WoWs can be paid for with in-game currency, not paid for currency.

Seems like a bunch of stupid fucking non-drama.

So guy was part of a content creator program in which he got early/special access to shit. Despite making some less than friendly videos as part of this program, he was kept in it. Finally crossed the line in terms of his content and got yanked from the program, and they asked him to take down his video.

Did I miss something? Because if that's the long and short of it, I fail to see any of the drama.

Their original philosophy on premium tanks was better than stock configuration but worse than elite tech tree tanks. The particular tanks they have been releasing lately, like the Chrysler K that appeared in the video, are not just better than tech tree tanks but significantly so. They have better armor, better gun statistics, are faster, and the Chrysler K in particular while shooting the exact same premium rounds as the tech tree equivalent with the same gun does more penetration for no apparent reason while also shooting faster, aiming faster, accelerating faster and turning quicker, and having better armor to the point of being able to ignore pretty much all in tier guns and a lot of higher tier guns. Another tank they released not long ago the Object 252U is a tier 8 premium that has armor on par with T10 tanks.

The benefit of premium tanks before was they made more money but weren't better than normal tanks. Now they're getting to just be better tanks in any conceivable and make more money effectively making them pay to win tanks.

While the actions were terrible by WG, I think/hope most people decide whether to play a game based on the game itself and pro or anti forum posting. War Thunder was 100x better game than WoWp. WoWp was an arcade-y poorly conceived mess and a massive disappointment, whereas War Thunder was an excellent game. I didn't like what they eventually did in War Thunder with the progression/grind/skill trees, and shifting it to less realism and more casual to appeal to a wider audience. It's not bad currently, but definitely not as good as it was earlier on. So regardless of any attempts by WG, it didn't really work since WoWp faded into irrelevance as it should have and War Thunder has done well.

I would also agree with the comments on WoT and p2w. World of Warships isn't nearly as p2w and you can definitely grind it out. In fact the "gold" purchased ships are generally just shortcuts up a tree, or better looking cosmetically. WoT on the other hand has some pretty overpowered "gold" purchased tanks that give you a good advantage that you can see in your stats over tanks that you can freely grind. Not that there aren't some decent tanks you can grind because there are. But for sure WoT is much more p2w than WoWs.
