New Legendaries - Hints for incoming Legion/Next Expac content?

I was reading the flavor text for the new legendaries and it got me thinking.

Soulflayer's Corruption - "The origins of the Soulflayer remain unknown. There are no mentions of him in any of the Titan records."

This is most likely a reference to Hakkar. I sincerely doubt they'd just suddenly add flavor text referring to him unless they were planning to bring him back in some form. Perhaps Old God expansion hint?

Cold Heart - "The beating of a frozen heart can be heard from a vast distance away, reminding all living things of their inevitable death."

This could be a reference to Arthas' heart, but that was destroyed. Or is it a reference to Bolvar?

Celerity of the Windrunners - "Your heart flew straight as any arrow upon the wind, sister. You were the brightest of our Order. You were the most beloved of our kin. -Sylvanas, to Alleria."

Well this is fairly obvious, if we're meeting Turaylon at Argus, then we should be meeting Alleria too. Possible meeting between Slyvanas and Alleria?

The Empty Crown - "It's hard to put a leash on a dog once you've put a crown on its head."

    Reference to a Greymane?

Ararat's Bloodmirror - "His blood infuses the glimmering steel, spilled by dragons, gods, and demons. Even from beyond, he protects his friends."

Most obscure quote. Or is it a reference to a player called Ararat from Blood Legion?

    Thoughts?

These don't really seem any more random than the current batch of legendaries, which include references to things such as Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, ancient heroes from Pandaria, and the Ymirjar vrykul from Northrend.

Think these are attempts to introduce race themes into the game without actually introducing race themes into the game.
Soulflayer's Corruption which is troll based, Celerity of the Windrunners is for blood elves, and The Empty Crown is for worgen. This way they can always say,
"Hey we did have race specific things in game"

Blizz adds flavor text to items all the time, why would Legiondaries be any different? I wouldn't take these as hints.

They're pretty random, and legendaries need some definig factor akin to lore that differenciates them from the rest of the items.
Once Argus hits, if you find a gear piece called "kul'tiras soldier warbelt" or "Kezan engineer's trousers", then we can begin to speculate...
"You can wear whatever costume you want for Halloween and it's totally cool but here's a list of costumes I'll shame you for and call you sexist and racist if you do wear them"

Would've been actually awesome if each legendary had different, recolored variations unlockable aswell.

You know they all references right?

Because "mah head canon" suddenly those would make more lore sense than legendaries.... right.

The crown thing seems more like Lich King than Greymane. Just because it says dog doesn't mean it has to mean Worgen. We put the crown on Bolvar and the DKs are wondering if they need to put a leash on him except we just gave him all of that power.

This is a quote from Game of Thrones...

While this might be random, we can't dismiss that they have done this before with item names (Cloak from Supreme Lord Kazzak in TJ called "Spellcloak of Suramar" being the most recent one)

No they don't. It would make equal sense.

That's pretty interesting. Didn't know about this.

Im basically basing on the Spellcloack of Suramar drop. It didn't made any sense during Tanaan Jungle, as well as the Arcane Saber mount during WoD, but now we now they belonged to the Nightfallen.
The thing with legendaries is that the mayority represent figures or lore we already know, and there are too many with different sources.
If Blizz follows the same route as before, the last patch is going to introduce hints through, apparently, non-important items.
Even if not in the end patch, the Fathom Dweller is a big contender for expansion hint, given that we get it in the Eye of Azshara zone, from a void creature, and its an acuatic mount in a expansion we need 0 reasons to use it.

What has puzzled me is the warlock Nighthold set which is Black Empire inspired (Legacy of Az'Aqir). And why would Kosumoth drop a underwater mount?

All the legendaries have flavor text though.

The Empty Crown is a quote from Game of Thrones.

Also that doesn't even make sense for Genn, since he's been king for forever. You'd have a better argument for Anduin than Genn, even as poor as that argument would be.

I can't remember a single legendary whose flavor text was anything other than referencing the character it was named after, or being a pop culture reference. There isn't any that are foreshadowing anything.
