Did you actually read those articles you posted or what? As they make some good arguments such as preventing pedophiles from molesting children by supporting them rather than condemning them. As for the topic at hand, good to see he got arrested as someone like that definitely doesn't deserve to go unpunished nor should he be allowed to teach other people. And as for the discussion in this thread with everyone just shitting on the other side, isn't the real issue that both sides have some extremists with the rest being normal people, but all they hear about the other side is about the extremists so they assume they all are like that when really it's just a small minority.
He is not a professor, he is a lecturer. One often needs 2+ decades of research, the other a masters degree.
But he is an idiot nonetheless.
But now the biggest part,
is all about the imageand not the art
True, which misses the point. The OP was aggrandizing the suspect as a "professor", sorry he uses a capital "Professor"! Missing out on the nuance of academia, that the suspect is not qualified as a capital "Professor". You can teach with bachelor's or none at a CC, they have different accreditation standards, if any.
Which just hilights the alt-right's venom and disdain for academia. Or really they hate any subject matter they're ignorant of. Learning from meme's and outrage video's on youtube, you miss out on a lot of nuance.
Or they cant be assed to even read the articles they post, since at the bottom it clearly stated the suspect was a lecturer.
Is that really your gripe? That people have mislabeled his job title?
The man was a violent thug, who viciously attacked someone who was posing no physical threat to him, someone who just had different views to his own. I haven't been through all of the posts, so might have missed the part where you address this (if so, I apologise), but it seems like you are missing the bigger picture.
Don't get me wrong, the title of the thread doesn't cover the OP in glory, and it is presented in an overly partisan manner, but I think that is more of a secondary issue.
Alt-Right as a self created brand makes sense, it is an alternative approach to right wing politics (though it is more like a Mars bar in new packaging, quite disappointing by any name)
Alt-Left is nonsense
Every part of the left is made as an alternative to everything that was before (and in some cases from the start alternatives to whatever came next and to things that never would be)
ANTIFA is technically left-leaning in ideology, but ultimately they're anti-establishment, which goes against all of America's large parties. They will beat a democrat in the head with a bike lock just as hard as they would a republican. Not a nice bunch. They are considered a terrorist organization. Best to find them alone with no witnesses nearby if you want to cull them effectively. Be sure to wear long sleeves and gloves if you upload any videos of the act.
They are stupid people who think that everyone has the right to believe the way they want, as long as it doesn't go against their beliefs, and will try to kill you if it does. Sort of like the stupid shithead alt-righters who don't seem to understand that we all bleed red and are all part of the HUMAN race. Anyone who takes things to the extreme needs to have their heads examined.
when all else fails, read the STICKIES.
*sigh*
Someone committed a crime. They should be punished.
It doesn't matter what their political orientation is.
BLM protesters smashing up buildings should be punished.
Racists attacking minorities should be punished.
People attacking Trump supporters at rallies should be punished.
Trump supporters attacking protesters at rallies should be punished.
The focus should be that if someone commits a crime, they should be punished.
EDIT -- I should add that there is value in discussion what sort of societal issues are at play for when you have a significant increase in this type of behavior -- however before that can have any value people have to move away from defending the indefensible. Which there is really far too much of these days.
