I'm more bothered that someone equated GPAs with wealth distribution than the reaction of the students. Anyone in post secondary environment should know better and look at the questioner sideways.

Everyone who works pays taxes, but for some reason those who earn more have to pay even higher taxes. That's wealth redistribution. Where is anyone's incentive to work harder and earn more when the extra wealth you generate gets redistributed to some peon sitting on a sofa drinking beer all day?
Gaming enrollment in high demand classes, gaming the professor and TAs for study material thats actually worthwhile, knowing how to navigate the pitfalls of secondary education like getting into a class/having questions and comments addressed rather than conforming to them.
Its kind of sad how much learning a test (in term of just passing a class) can be than learning the actually material. I know people who none of the actual course material but had time to go office hours get the same marks as people who studied hard but didn't have the extra time to "learn the test" since a lot of tests are now dictated by publishers - at least when it comes to common prereqs where a lot of students fail out.

Instead of wasting everyone's time for a dumb laugh, they could have made a legitimate drive to have better students donate their time to help worse students improve their gpa.
But that would have been beneficial for everyone so I suppose it's against their nature.
Redistribution of grades is not a Socialist ideal to begin with, so jokes on you.
"In order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance." Paradox of tolerance
Well I am certainly glad that this what my fellow conservatives spend their time on, getting people to disagree with some completely unparalleled examples.
Redistribution of grades would be silly - but many socialists actually want an abolition of grades.
Im not sure if you want to base your argument on effort because it takes less effort for a full time student whose tuition is paid for their parents to do what I said than a student working 40 hours on their own to get.
Just from personal experience, its a lot easier to keep your academic career above par when all you have focus on is academics than someone who has to grind outside of school just to afford school. That phenomena isn't event exclusive to college, it can also be observed in high school.

I just made a different post about that math trick people.
10% when your making 40k doesn't have the same impact as 10% when you're making 80k. Lets say the minimal cost of living is 20k a year, who is impacted more by that flat 10%? 40k-20k-4k=16k. 80k-20-8k=52k. The latter is still living great while the former better hope they don't get sick or a force of nature comes their way.
You don't go to the story and pay 2% of your yearly income on a loaf of bread. You pay a fixed amount.
