No, there are giant ice walls at the edges of the earth. NASA is preventing anyone from getting near them though, that's why there aren't any pictures of it. If global warming was real, those walls would melt as well. At some point the excess water would spill over the shrinking wall. Ergo the rise in sea level is only temporary at best.

I wonder why so many here are against technological advancement. Where you see problems I can only see opportunities.
Lots of jobs, lots of research, lots of infrastructure projects.

Do you really want to be stuck two hundred years ago with coal mines and cars running on gas? Or do you want to move towards a future where we can harvest the sun and the sea and the wind? All resources that will never run out? Because at some point, maybe in a hundred years or in five hundred years or in a thousand years, there will be no coal and there will be no oil. And if we ever get to another planet there might also be no oil or gas available there. But I am pretty sure there will be a sun shining on that planet.
So why not start investing in technologies that move us forward? Maybe take half of your insane military budget and use it to bring humanity forward. Or rely on China and let them teach you something about sustainable energy in the next fifty years.

It's not about the environment, planet earth will survive us regardless of how we fuck it up.
But life will be alot harder and not that pleasant if we keep living in 1900.

Did you look at the data or just read the article? If you look at the data then you will see ice is cyclical every year. The author is taking the lower bound from 1979 and comparing it to the middle for the year. If you follow the trend you will see it's clearly downwards with the lowest for this year actually the lowest it's ever been.

Now, who funds "Spark of Freedom Foundation"? Do they have a stake in the discussion? That's an op ed by someone who's salary is paid for by energy companies. Do you really expect us to take it at face value and do you expect him to not have any bias?

Oh, and the article is from 2015 so the lowest ice level in recorded history was subsequent to the release of this article. So much for a recovery.

Here is a challenge for you. Can you point me to just 1 scientist (a person who is qualified on the subject and who is not funded by the energy companies) who back up the contents of this article.

Looks like Obama reduced greenhouse gasses a bit, I wonder what this graph will look like in 2020?

China? HA HA HA now I know you are a troll, China is the biggest polluter with unregulated manufacturing, world wide. but you care so much for the earth so much over your clear political bias.

Pruit wants to roll back the California car regulations. The same ones that dramatically improved the Los Angeles air quality after it hit really dangerous levels.

Better not buy any beach property since sea levels will be rising in the future with both the north and south pole melting.

Well if you're of the opinion that we must reduce emissions or eliminate them to prevent warming, the current climate models basically show you can prevent .5 degrees C warming in 100 years if you eliminated emissions entirely. Assuming that is the case, you'd think that if people actually cared about the issue or if they were intelligent about it they'd be talking about active mitigation instead of prevention.

And of course we're not even talking about halving emissions. The bigger point being that if we're proposing drastic reductions in emissions it would demand proof that the reduction would result in a cost effective outcome. You can talk as much as you want about catastrophic doomsday scenarios, but the interventions and their actual or at least predicted effects are the ONLY thing that makes the entire topic worth talking about.

They also have more than 3 times our population but the Chinese government is smart enough to make this a top issue they are now the leader when it comes to green energy investment. In 2016 their investments in green energy jump 60% and has continued to increase, they also have been killing off their reliance on fossil fuels. China does not have a luxury to believe in fairy tales they need clean air and water to keep their populace happy.

They do not using estimates...they use temps they got while measuring temps on certain dates each year. or combining months . lets put is simple so you can understand it. They do not make up shit!!!! There are weather stations that take temp readings each day and write them down. and if 10 years in a row 100 years ago the average temp was 80f and now for 10 years in a row it is 90f its getting warmer......

And did i talk about Al gore and stuff...nope great side step...( NOT)

    How to get average temps for a month: month x has 30 days....the 80F degree's on 20 days and 100f on 10 days. That is 20 x 80 = 1600 + (100 x 10)= 2600 / 30 = 86f on average. and if they year before it was lower or higher you can make a chart.

But your choice in believing stupid things

It's funny to see people championing a country that has cities covered in toxic smog and massive pollution as some kind of beacon.

Based on a graph of percent of energy from fossil fuels, which line in this link would you say represents a country that's doing a better job mitigating fossil fuel usage?

The US has been doing a great job for a while now, shame it seems some want to reverse that trend.

So we all need to start polluting more so we'll have the same incentive?

Were there some strong condition attached to it, the United States would not have been able to act as a signatory in the first place. The only reason signing this as an executive action is legal is because it's a non-binding resolution. If this was an actual treaty, it would be covered by Article II Section 2 of the United States Constitution:
[The President] shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur...
That aside, the idea of the UN or another international body having any real juice to punish the United States is laughable on its face.

Looking at the graph the other way around suggests a different story.

China has made about as much progress on non-fossil sources in the last 5 years as the USA has in the last 20 years.

At the current pace, they'll be passing the USA within 10 years.
