lots of people make new accounts and then either create spam topics, flame topics or just topics that are designed to upset and polarise the community. is it too hard to make it impossible for new accounts to create a new topic until they have done a certain amount of posts or until the account is a week old? it would at the very least cut out the spam topics

That would discriminate against new members of the MMO-C community.

Secondly, how can anything seen on MMO-C upset or drastically alter your emotions into a negative state?

A week between making an account and being able to post would just stop all new posters completely. Making it so you need a minimum #of posts to make a new thread and the first 20 or so need to be approved before actually being made would be a better option.

I was mostly referring to the spam topics we see almost daily. plus there are always lots of posts by "brand new accounts" which inevitably get locked; the latest ones have been about wow expansion leaks

Believe it or not, but the vast majority of spam is in the form of threads you never see because we clean them up. They're super easy to notice. If we restricted posts to a week, spambots, evaders, and trolls would be far harder to notice.

Report threads and posts and we will take care of them as soon as we can.
