Dude that's like their worst album by far.

Have you listened to their best already?

This was released in 1994. Just listen how fucking next level it sounded for that time. A band truly ahead of their time tbh.

Is metal alive? Are there any revolutionaly sounding metal bands from 00s,10s? I mean something interesting(like Agalloch for example), not technical wanking?

    Yes.

Though obviously it's a bit harder to do something that hasn't been done when people have been playing metal for, arguably, the last 50 years.

Greek black metal is as good as it gets and it's a shame that the 90's bands didn't get as big as the Norwegian ones because they weren't as controversial with burning churches or muders etc.

Modern Greek bm is also really great. It always sounds fresh and/or different from the rest of the pack. You can say what you want about them, but they can write some fucking basslines.

    edit: @goriq
Titan is definitely, objectively in their top 3 worst albums.

Just some good ol' fashioned German folk metal. It's great.

That Necromantia album sounds more interesting right now than it did when I last listened to it though. Still not a fan of the synths and vocal production on it though. I'll give the other albums another try as well, just because it's you guys <3

Going by the Septicflesh albums I've listened to so far:
Titan > Communion = The Great Mass >> Revolution DNA > Sumerian Demons

Let me guess, I haven't even listened to their good albums yet?
It's Mystic Places of Dawn > Ophidian Wheel > Έσοπτρον > Communion > Sumerian Daemons > The Great Mass > A Fallen Temple > Titan > Revolution DNA.

Sumerian Daemons is fucking catchy... Just at some point you've heard all there is to hear on the album.

Sidenote, while speaking of greek metal, we should probably include this.

If we were to add favorites:

Both Dead Congregation albums are probably my favorite death metal records of the past decade. If Graves of the Archangels didn't have an overlong intro, we would be talking about one of the best death metal albums of all time. The Teeth Into Red outro alone is jaw-dropping.

Google tells me that On Thorns I Lay is a gothic metal band so I won't get my hopes up.
Quick question, how do you feel about Incantation?

I like their general sound but you know that I'm not big on death metal. I listened to Onwards to Golgotha and I gave some of their other albums a try here and there but I don't actually listen to them.

I'll probably check out their upcoming album once it's out though.

I have a question for you too: How can you say that Communion is in Septicflesh's top 5 best albums and then say that The Great Mass and Titan are some of their worst? I think they sound pretty similar overall and they were all released one of the other too.
They sound similar but they lack the tightness of Communion. The Great Mass is decent but Titan is an overproduced soulless mess.

Communion and The Great Mass have some standout tracks for me and peak higher than Titan but I think Titan is a more consistent experience overall.
If you liked Titan you will may probably love Shade Empire although it's more black metal than death.

It's like you automatically filter off everything we recommend on this forum lol.

How can you make this thread without posting the song.

Girls are a hoax created by the Japanese anime industry to scam otaku out of their money.

For those who enjoy a happy celtic metal, ill post a few songs from a band from my city. None of the songs are new, but since they are pretty unknown (already played at Wacken tho) and crazy talented, here are some songs here for those interested.

    Because
    1) this thread is older than 2012, hence it couldn't have been included at the time
    2) Rammstein (and, to a lesser extent I suppose, Laibach) already is a thing.

This is a shitty third rate clone.
