I do want to say that today was an even bigger catastrophe for Trump than predicted. We knew Comey would go far. He went way further than expected. Comey went thermonuclear. And for good measure he wiped out almost all Trumpkin talking points.

Put aside the truth of Trump-Russia collusion for a moment, Trump has essentially lost any legitimacy as President purely on the basis of his behavior with regards to the existence of an investigation.
Yeah but the Clinton-server probe! Loretta Lynch!

How about that opening statement tho...Brutal.

Maybe I am missing the obvious, but what connection was there between Clinton emails (Clinton private server) and the Russians? Or did you mean Podesta/DNC emails?

Therefore - it makes sense that Clinton&Co are still in scope, just like Trump&Co are.
Except he didn't say that Clinton's campaign are still in the scope of the investigation. You're doing the literal exact same nonsense that McCain is doing. Conflating two entirely separate issues.

Hillary's campaign isn't a focus because that makes no fucking sense rofl. And have no actual evidence to support there COULD be something there.

You're basically just barfing out word salad like McCain. Conflating two separate issues and drawing ridiculous comparisons. Clearly you don't understand the issue or are purposefully trying to muddle the topic.

    Hahaha indeed.

I think though that folks wondering why some Republicans or even centrist Democrats bring up issues like that... they need to remember that impeachement is a political act first and foremost, and anyone representing Trump country has to cover their political flank.

It really doesn't matter what McCain for example says now, if he votes when it counts. And every single person in that room knows that, including Comey. When he is asked Clinton-email questions, his thoughts aren't "why are you wasting time with this?". It's "let me help you give a piece of meat to your Trumpkin constiutents before we move onto what you really are interested in".

There lots of bombshells such as -

"In your statement you said that you and the FBI leadership team decided not to discuss the president's actions with Attorney General Sessions. Even though he had not recused himself. What was it about the attorney general's own interactions with the Russians, or his behavior with regard to the investigation, that would have led the entire leadership team of the FBI to make this decision?"

Comey : "We were also aware of facts that I can't discuss in an open setting that would make his continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic."

Clinton private server = security hole.
    Security hole = stolen emails
    stolen emails = Russia hacking

Not saying Clinton private server was the source of hacked emails, just that there is a scope connection right there beyond the charge Clinton has been given a pass on.

That is - in terms of the SCOPE of the Russia hacking, all of the security issues of both camps are going to be in scope.

Clinton isn't in the scope of the Russia investigation. Just because her emails were hacked BY RUSSIA, doesn't mean she's a person fo interest of the investigation....in fact it proves she isn't. Unless of course you think she had Russia hack her own emails.

    Was McCain drunk?

Comeys actually done a good job. He covered basics (alas, not the "TRUMP WAS IN BED WITH PUTIN" reveal most wanted), handled things VERY politically and carefully, and isn't saying anything out of turn; knowing that a lot of this information should really be in the ongoing investigation instead.

Comey put on a fucking clinic. I've disagreed with the guy in the past but it's always a joy watching him on the stand.

He pretty much obliterated the counterpoints to the investigation without dropping anything out of line.

Wait...the best defense the GOP can muster for Trumps behavior is, "He's new at this"?

What a fucking pathetic shitshow the party has become. Truly the party of invertebrates, there's not a spine amongst them.

It really seemed like McCain was having an aneurysm and was in the process of dying up there. Repeatedly using Comey's name when referring to the President, conflating two entirely separate issues, and then being angry when Comey couldn't answer his fallacious argument.

I really hope one of his aides takes him to a doctor because holy fuck what.
