Germany is the same as it was a 100 years ago. For some reason, they really don't like free speech.

    Hmm.
Yeah, thats a bit over the top if it is actually true.

That doesn't matter. The world still jokes about Nazis every time a German wants to "speak his mind".

And sometimes these jokes have a fair share of truth in them.

The German law works in such a way that it allows to talk about everything, but they expect you to do it in a lawyer fashion

have you not been paying attention to the US? One president was suggested to suck on the end of a rifle and another had a replica severed head held up and photographed, neither one of those people faced government prosecution. Those were against Presidents!

Also you should visit Washington DC, as the capitol of the free world and of the most powerful country there are hundreds of people lining the parks and monuments spouting the most HORRENDOUS things and they're allowed. That's what's called free speech

Ah found it. Yes, it totally is "Volksverhetzung" and not " a joke" she was fined for. At least the unemployed lady realized her mistake.

It's always mildly amusing to see people from the world champion in incarceration rates with ten times the homicide rates and three times the rapes try to tell others how to create a peaceful society.

"Rescue operations" aka ngos working together with traffickers to offer a illegal ferry service to europe. Its good that nice people stand up against this while frontex is failing to do anything.

That's what they say in order to make it fit their message and they took it from an angered Frontex official, contrasting to that is the statement of an Italian rear admiral stating that NGOs are cooperating with the statutes of the Italian coast guard and whilst traffickers give the phone numbers of NGOs to them only a small fraction calls them instead of the Italian coast guard which, by that logic, would make the Italian coast guard complicit in trafficking which would be mindboggling. Helpers of any kind have been on the radar of anti-immigration activist since a while now and this is just one of those episodes.

Come on, your historic knowledge of Germany can't be that bad, can it?

    Ahhhh, good ol' "free" Europe.

If this is what Europeans deem as acceptable, then you can keep that shit across the pond.

What was that thing I have always heard talked about? Don't take away people's freedoms all at once, because they'll notice it and revolt. You need to take them away slowly, one at a time, and disguise it as "security" and "for the good of the people" and what not. Then people won't realize what is happening until it's too late and are too slow to react in time to stop it.

Seems to me this is exactly what's happening across Europe. Sad and horrifying. Here's to hoping you guys realize this before it's too late.

Yeah i know, the likes of you would rather see them drown. You're the kind of guy that obstructs mdics, when a brown person was beaten up, that's not what a decent human being does, though. But we're derailing the thread.

Some people have this naive understanding that "free speech" means that you can say anything without facing the consequences. It has its boundaries in every single nation in the world, it only differs in where those boundaries are. Just a few days ago we had a thread about a US teenager who was trialed for driving her boyfriend into suicide. Free speech, right? Insulting thousands of people is no different from insulting single ones. Inciting violence is criminal, as it should be.

Picked your quote more or less at random, read the same thing worded differently 20 times over and it just irks me sorry.

Freedom of speach, at least in most countries in the eu does not mean freedom to say kill/ban/throw in jail all jews/blacks/natives/"invaders"

it mostly means you are allowed to say the government sucks without getting thrown into jail, and even this does not mean you are allowed to for example incite violence, so no "but mah freeeeeeedoooom" after you said for the fifth time that you want to bash angela merkels head in with a sledgehammer.

For these things there are different kinds of hate speech laws, which are well, the law. Sorry but it's mostly americans who think it is fine to say "kill all jews" and then scream about freedom.

Aside from that Anti Fascists (yea lol) making death threats is obviously every bit (if not more so cause it's personallized) against the law and should be treated as such. Antifa though isn't really treated any different from the npd (the current "nazi party"), and most people not in their inner circle don't have any kind of higher opinion of them compared to the npd, at the base it's just an excuse to throw stones at both ends, the extreme left aswell as the extreme right.

    tl;dr
woman gets punished by law for implying it's fine to hurt/kill others, this is by definition of law not a matter of refugees or whatever and would equally be the case if she implied to use machine guns against natives that dislike refugees. /Antifa suck every bit as much as neo nazis and are pretty much treated the same from everyone not in their inner circle

Well, we already knew that many European nations don't actually value free speech as much as they claim. This is not surprising. Of course, I would actually like to see some better English references than the sites that are pushing this.

Of course, none of the articles actually show what was posted, or what was said. They should at least print that, if they are going to write an article.
