"Gray - who began accessing Internet pornography at the age of 13"

Like everyone else with internet access, and some without it with a little more dedication.

Can't say I've ever fantasized about raping and killing babies.

Porn did not turn this kid into a psycho.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

    Just, be kind.

Because he didn't have any other mental health issues that didn't stem from the use of pornography?

Not undeniably. The purpose of the age 18 rule is to prevent exactly this. I'm not going to pretend there isn't any exploitation in the porn industry, but all actors and actresses are adults. If there's a problem, we need to reach out to shitty parents before the talent reaches that age, not ban porn and cut off talent that actually knows what they're doing. It's still an income, and like all industries, it puts food on the earner's table, or gas in their Ferrari.

I don't know what sick porn you watch, but whatever site you use sounds pretty disgusting. Also this.

He was wearing clothes, eating food, breathing air, and drinking water from an even EARLIER age. Ergo, wearing clothes, eating food, breathing air, and drinking water should be banned for turning people into psychos.

The logic is clear and irrefutable, and Wilfire should be celebrated for bringing it to the masses.

Where is the story? I see people posting messages worse than what hes accused of on /2 on a daily basis

If you banned porn there would only be one website left and it would be called "Bring back the porn".

Seriously though, trying to ban porn would be even harder then trying to bring back prohibition. A lot of people seriously under estimate how much people like porn.

Is 13 really considered a really young age to first view porn/adult content?
In the 90's it wasnt uncommon to be 11-12 at first exposure at my school. So far no insanity cases btw.

Heck, when I was in highschool, a number of my friends were already having sex at ~14/15. That's... pretty normal, dude.

The difference is this guy was not normal. It probably had nothing to do with porn (or at least, it didn't help him).
I started back to college last year. Its really weird but there are college Juniors and Seniors that are walking around with their parents going to advising sessions together. We're talking 21-22 year olds that need their hands held still by mommy....

I think I figured out the problem here.. Its the parents..

I'm fairly certain I was looking at port at 13. I don't believe that's particularly unusual.

I very much doubt you could establish a causal link here.

Even if porn was banned people would still find a way to find porn
Even if porn was banned, there would still be fucked up pedophiles

Your logic is as good as saying "Violent games make people violent, ban all violent games". Elliot Rodgers used a quote from Garrosh Hellscream before he went on a killing spree, should we ban WoW then?

Honestly, I'm 30, been exposed to porn since 11, I regret nothing of it and don't feel like my life is worse off. No problem anywhere... You can't change the entire world just in case someone with a mental disorder might see it and possibly become worse. Odds are the guy would have still done what he did without porn, he would just have used his imagination instead.. or went to action on kids faster since porn wouldnt be there.

Slightly interesting question, because free speech already has its limits, even (or especially?) in the US. See Miller test, a "test for determining whether speech or expression can be labeled obscene, in which case it is not protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and can be prohibited":

    - Whether "the average person, applying contemporary community standards", would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest,
    - Whether the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct or excretory functions specifically defined by applicable state law,
    - Whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.
So from a conservative standpoint there is little reason why porn should be protected by the First Amendment. Since you could argue that many Women suffer from the industry... well, many benefit from it, but when has proper reasoning avoided a ban...? Civil rights are restricted regularly on much worse ground. Your privacy is limited based on a war against terror which does not even hit the right countries.

I think, because the state simply would have no benefit from a ban here. The industry pays their taxes, as long as its legal. People who consume (media, luxury articles, etc. - including porn) are kept busy and not dangerous. And it is absolutely clear that even conservative, christian people watch this stuff (some may even get a kick out of this because it feels forbidden). And when you realize who makes the law (yeah, right... the people) - when it comes to ultraconservative politicians and sex scandals, it should be clear that the people who govern us hardly live by the standards they preach.

So why bring the people up against you and risk losing control while making stuff you consume less available? No politician (at least male) would be that crazy.

Nothing bad has ever changed in frequency or severity too. Nukes are just as bad as throwing stones at each other.

Parents paying the bills. Parents get to know what's going on. Simple.

Besides, my adviser jerked me around for two years. Maybe my parents could've gotten a straight answer outta them before I was thousands in the hole.

This is the same argument people use when trying to get video games banned.
