Basically if you are entirely amoral and your only desire is to lower the cost to government, regardless of how it negatively impacts tens of millions of people (so, every GOP plan on everything), then this plan works really well.

If anything shows you that the GOP cares absolutely not at all for the very people that support them, it should be this whole healthcare thing.

I can understand hating socialism and all of that (well, okay, I can't understand it to the degree that the right puts on the show), but the GOP is actually rolling back a lot of this healthcare stuff to levels lower than they were before Obamacare, particularly with programs such as Medicaid and Medicare.

Yeah, they'll spit out buzzwords like "premiums" and "the marketplace" to convince you that somehow they're helping something - but if the result is that less people have healthcare than before Obama was even in office, particularly among individuals who have paid in for 50 years or more or were veterans of military service, how much are they actually helping?

It's messed up, isn't it? I very much dislike how these politicians, left and right, pit us against each other and even people against themselves. There are no Democrats working on it because the Republicans are refusing to show the bill to anyone or allow the bill to be subject to debate on the Senate floor. You should look at what the Republicans are doing in addition to what they are saying (this holds true of any politician, always contrast their words and their actions to spot the lies).

Not impossible, just goes against the republican ideology entirely.

Single Payer or Universal has already been proven the world over to be higher quality, cover more people and cost less. But it isn't corporate run and controlled and so goes against their ideology.

The fact is healthcare can not function in any free market type system.

For Trump to deliver on that promise would require him to go further than Obamacare did which goes against everything he and the party has been trying to do since the start.

It's not great. A lot of people will pay huge prices for this. And the effects after that could be even worse. The amount of pain this will cause to so many people is definitely not worth the possibility that the republicans might take a hit once the damage is done. The damage will probably not be very much. But the pain most definitely WILL be a lot - more likely it will surpass the worst case scenario that people can imagine right now.
